Bongawan Mangrove Cruise and Fireflies Tour

We were a group ranging from 8yrs to 71yrs. This trip was great for all! The transfer was comfortable, we saw Proboscis and long tail macaques, crocodiles and birds. The sunset was breathtaking and the fireflies were so beautiful. on the beach, you can pay extra to ride a small ATV which was likely the highlight of my 12yr old’s day! Our guide, Cathy was wonderful, we learned a lot about the mangroves and the creatures because of her!

This is a great experience for me. The sunset is so beautiful which is unforgettable scene from nature. My tour guide A.K.A. driver who is petty nice and patient to take many photos and videos for me. I am so glad to meet every staffs on the ship, especially the ship guide would tell so many acknowledgement details of mangroves. I do really enjoy this activity! Thank you all.

We had a great time for all the activities. We saw the proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, monitor lizard, egret and a glimpse of a crocodile in the river cruise. Our guide, Eddie, is professional for taking our photos and video at the Dream Beach Sky Mirror sunset scenery. The fireflies cruise after dark is mystical too. We had local tea-time and dinner at the jetty too. Thank you Klook for such awesome experience.

Our tour guide was very professional. We were able to rest well during travel, and during the tour, we received a lot of information and felt a great sense of hospitality. Dinner was a buffet with local food. The long-nosed monkeys, fireflies, and Mirror Beach were all absolutely wonderful.

It was a very satisfying and enjoyable trip! Our tour guide, Xiao Wenren, was also very nice, enthusiastic, responsible, friendly, and patient. He spoke Chinese and English very well. He took good care of us along the way and helped us take a lot of beautiful photos! We saw a super beautiful sunset and cute little animals in the mangroves! We also saw proboscis monkeys, macaques, and fireflies. We were very satisfied and will book again next time if we have the chance!

The itinerary was very comfortable. We were lucky enough to see monitor lizards, crocodiles, and proboscis monkeys in the Klias Wetlands, which was very exciting. The tour guide was kind and friendly. In the evening, we saw many fireflies, which were beautiful, and the guide even caught a few for us to make wishes.

Taking a small boat to see proboscis monkeys in the mangrove conservation area is a great activity for all ages. In addition, there are beautiful sunset photos and scenery at Mirror Beach.

We started with afternoon tea, which included fried bananas and drinks. After a short break, our exciting boat trip began. There were three parts to the boat tour: ✨ First trip: Searching for proboscis monkeys (seeing them isn't guaranteed; it really depends on luck!) 🌅 Second trip: Heading to the beach to watch the sunset. The scenery was so beautiful that it was hard to leave, and the guide even helped everyone take amazing photos! ✨ Third trip: On the way back, we admired the countless fireflies in the mangrove forest. The most interesting part was when the guide used a flashlight to mimic the flashing rhythm of female fireflies, attracting male fireflies to fly over and flash in response. The entire forest instantly lit up like a Christmas tree—it was truly special and incredibly therapeutic! If you come to Kota Kinabalu, I think this tour is definitely worth planning. You get to see proboscis monkeys, a stunning sunset, and magical fireflies all in one go, creating wonderful memories! ❤️

What a great day we had. The bus arrived on time to pick us up and the tour guide Simon was really helpful and very knowledgeable. We made a pit stop at the chocolate factory and tried some of the wonderful chocolates. The second leg of the journey was quite long until we got to the river. There we met Eddie. He is a very good guide and told us all about the river, the mangroves and the animals that live there. He was able to point out proboscis monkeys hiding in the tree tops. After this first river excursion we had a local meal which was very tasty and plentiful. The third part of our trip was to the coast where we took some great sunset photos. On the way back to the bus Eddie and his colleagues slowly went up the river and, as it was getting dark, the thousands of fireflies began their light show and even came into the boat. It was a truly unforgettable experience. Thanks go to Simon and Eddie for making it so enjoyable.
