Things to do in Ryoanji Temple

Our guide Kanta is really good, thoughtful and knowledgeable. He takes beautiful photos. And patiently helps us to look for items which we need to buy. We are really lucky to have matched up with him. Tqvm Kanta.

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! Our guide, Justin, was absolutely fantastic. He is incredibly knowledgeable about Kyoto’s history and hidden gems, but what truly made the experience special was how fun and friendly he was. He didn’t just recite facts; he made us feel like we were simply exploring the city with a close friend. He was so helpful with recommendations, patient with our questions, and had a wonderful energy that made the entire day fly by. If you are looking for a genuine, personalized, and insightful way to see Kyoto, book this tour and specifically ask for Justin—you won't regret it!

An amazing experience. Interactive artworks and installations that evoke emotion, thought, and a sense of wonder. We spent three hours there. The venue itself is well-designed and high-quality, with restrooms and vending machines on every floor. Highly recommended.

The experience was fun for the whole family. It wasn't too difficult to shave the wood, even for my 8 yr old. We chose Sugi, Walnut, Sakura, and Purple Heart. Victor K. was very helpful, professional, and patient. He provided clear instructions and helpful hints to make the beautiful chopsticks. You can tell he truly enjoys the craft of making chopsticks. The personalized engraving was a fun extra we all loved.

Very fun and informative experience, the staff is friendly and helpful. The host is charismatic and the experience of watching a live sumo show is priceless!! Recommended!! By the way they include drinks so you can enjoy the show and not worry about those yourself

Had a wonderful experience at the store! Majo was incredibly kind, helpful, and accommodating. She made everything easy and pleasant, and her excellent customer service truly stood out. The store was also clean, organized, and had a great selection. Highly recommended! Thank you, Majo! 💖 We love you so much 😍😍

It's convenient to get there by JR train or bus. There are many interesting activities at each point inside, and street performances happen periodically. There are several photo zones. Overall, I was impressed with the place. Plus, by booking through Klook, you can scan the QR code for direct entry, without needing to exchange a voucher at the counter again.

An absolute must see. We were running late for our entry time due to a family emergency but they still let us in and placed us with a group. Our tour guides Ara and Nana were a treat. the Ninja Star throwing was so much fun. highly recommend.

we were able to find this shop fairly easily with an A-frame sign at the entrance. The area is a shared space with a few other craft workshops as well. There’s a restroom you can use once you are up the stairs. Elvie was our instructor. She gave very good instructions and demonstrations as well as helped with some finishing touches to our chopsticks. They have several types of wood you can upgrade to ranging from 4000 to 8000 yen. There are 3 types that we got to choose from that were already included with the price. I chose the Taiwan Cypress and my brother chose Hinoki. We opted for the optional laser engraving for an additional 1000 yen and it was well worth it! Such a great experience! a lovely souvenir to take back home. I will for sure be using them!
