Things to do in Waitomo Glowworm Caves

A very lovely experience on the whole! Loved both the Waitomo Caves tour and the Hobbiton Movie set tour. All the guides were very clear and professional in their explanation, with drops of humour. Rachel the bus driver and main guide was also very reassuring, responsible and clear in instructions. we saw many lovely free range sheeps and cows along the way. very valuable for money. the coach bus was also comfortable!

The LOTR fangirl in me couldn’t have been happier. Overall, the guided tour with Mira was very well organised. Be informed that this is a 2hr long walking trip with a decent amount of uphill climbing involved. While not extremely physically challenging, can be a but tiring if one isnt used to walking long distances.

We explored the world of the Ring and we really loved it. It’s a must-do in New Zealand as a tourist.

Brad was an excellent guide. I often get stomach aches and motion sickness, but he made sure to have regular restroom breaks, and his driving was smooth with no sudden stops, which made me feel very comfortable. Of course, the scenery, the Hobbiton tour, and the glowworm tour were all wonderful. Even though I'm not very good at English, it was a small group tour, so everyone was friendly, and I had a great time.

The tour was well organized, informative, and enjoyable from start to finish. It was fascinating to learn about the history and behind-the-scenes details of the set. The scenery was stunning, and there were plenty of opportunities to take memorable photos. The comfortable luxury van made the journey relaxing and pleasant, allowing us to sit back and take in the beautiful scenery along the way.

It was a fun day exploring Waitomo and Hobbiton. Pick up was at the SkyCity Terminal, so it was quick and easy for us (we stayed across the street at the Horizon). They gave us a Cookie Time cookie and a bottle of water after scanning our Klook voucher. The ride itself was comfy, and Bruce, our driver and tour guide made sure we stayed comfortable and entertained all throughout.

What a fantastic tour! We really enjoyed seeing the famous Hobbiton set (even though I have never seen any of the films). We had Cory as our tour guide and he was brilliant! Would highly recommend it for a fantastic activity!

The hotel pickup was on time; there were snacks and water provided during the trip; the tour guide was humorous and actively helped with taking photos 👍🏻; there was also a guide providing commentary throughout Hobbiton, who also helped with photos; lunch was incredibly rich and delicious 😋; the Waitomo Glowworm Caves were slightly different from the pictures, but still beautiful overall, and we got to ride a small boat.
