We had a wonderful time at the cooking class! Rabbit met us at a subway station, from there we walked to a local market to buy our ingredients for the day! We were able to try out some new vegetables we aren’t able to get back home. The afternoon was spent cooking, drinking tea and having great conversations. Our noodles and our many side dishes came out delicious! This class was a highlight of our time in Beijing!

Our family had a wonderful time with the warm and friendly host family. Although we also make dumplings in Korea, I applied for this experience because I wanted my children to experience the local culture while traveling. I was grateful that the children enjoyed it so much! Making dumplings was fun, and visiting the local market was also enjoyable! A big thank you to Chenjie's husband for cooking with such effort! 💕 I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique experience while traveling in Beijing!

Fantastic 5.0
The taxi wasn't allowed down the street the store was on, but it was only a 1 minute walk from the main road. I came early in the morning ~9am, and was able to start straight away. The sisters in the store were very nice and we used a app for translations. There were lots of hanfu to select, and staff were patient while I selected. My makeup was pale but it worked with the style/era. It also included lashes and hair. It was extremely hot and the hanfu was so warm. The tickets for entrance to Beihai park were provided and I was able to meet the photographer. He was great, enthusiastic, and helped me pose. I enjoyed the location of the shoot as it was (slightly) less crowded. Photos were provided straight away- there were over 30, then I could select 5 to had edited, which were also provided within a few days. Great service :)

Clear instructions on meeting point. Hair and makeup took about an hour and you have to wait your turn. Had to meet photographer 10 mins walk away in the park. Some unnatural poses. it photos turned out well and received them digitally in the day. Chose 10 for touch up and received them in a week. Overall a great experience creating memorable moments.

I had a wonderful time at Jiuhuating Hanfu Studio. They offer diverse well‑kept Hanfu choices. Stylists are skillful, creating delicate makeup and fancy hairstyles. Staff are patient and helpful. Great value for money. It’s a fantastic way to experience traditional Chinese culture, and I highly recommend it.

What to know before visiting Beijing

Quick snapshot of Beijing and what travellers book

Beijing draws strong interest for Theme parks, Tours and Museums, with Historical sites and Cable cars also among popular bookings. Demand peaks in April and then drifts through the summer into a low in August, so the city’s booking rhythm swings noticeably between spring and late summer.

Best times to visit and how prices change through the year

According to Klook booking data, April is the busiest month while August sees the lightest demand. Prices rise and fall on a different rhythm: Klook data show the priciest month is typically January and the cheapest typically February, with prices dipping again around April; overall prices are lower in late winter and early spring and higher around the start of the year. If you want smaller crowds and generally lower prices, February and August tend to be quieter—February also usually offers the lowest prices on Klook. For peak-season atmosphere and the busiest vibe, aim for April when demand is highest.

Tips for travellers from Australia planning a Beijing trip

Most travellers from Australia typically book activities around 12 days in advance, so planning a couple of weeks ahead is sensible, especially for travel in April when demand is highest. If you prefer flexibility, Klook still shows last-minute options appear within about 4 days, but popular day tours and theme park experiences are best secured earlier. Use Klook to compare available dates and lock in tickets once your itinerary is set to avoid missing high-demand slots.
