Fantastic 5.0
The hotel is conveniently located 3-5 minutes from Yamagata Station, offering excellent transportation access. The rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms feature separate wet and dry areas with large bathtubs, providing exceptional comfort. On the first floor, there's a 7-Eleven convenience store and a famous Yonezawa beef restaurant. Overall, its convenient location, modern facilities, and comfortable spaces make it highly recommended.

Great 4.0
The walk from the hotel to Yamagata Station took longer than expected. The hotel hallways were too dimly lit; the manager could install brighter lights. However, the hotel's breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the staff were very friendly, which was a big plus.

Fantastic 5.0
Everything is perfect for this hotel. There is public parking lot next to hotel 24hr cost only 500 yen and can walk to the back door of hotel. Free drink and icecream from checkin time to 4pm and also 80 bowls of free yamagata soba from 8-10pm. Room is big enough to fit 2 people. Walk distrance to Kajo park. I love this hotel

Great 4.0
The hotel is a bit of a distance from Yamagata Station, but it's right next to Mitsukoshi Department Store, making shopping convenient. It includes breakfast, and the room rate is very good. However, the space is quite small. We had three people, and one of the beds was an extra bed. The bathroom was also very small, and the carpeted floor showed its age. The hot water kettle was an old-fashioned insulated type, which wasn't very convenient for filling with water. We chose this place mainly because of the affordable price. Breakfast: Good Service: Excellent

Great 4.0
Convenient Transportation: Very close to Yamagata Station. Hotel Location: There are many izakayas (Japanese pubs) in the surrounding area. In the evenings, it becomes very lively and brightly lit, like the spirit world in "Spirited Away" (there are also some adult entertainment shops behind the hotel). Service: Excellent. The lobby staff actively guided us as foreign tourists and could communicate a little in English. The lobby also provided a sufficient quantity of high-quality extra amenities for guests to take. Cleanliness: The room cleanliness was average, with no strange odors or mold, but it was relatively old.

More about Yamagata hotels

What staying in Yamagata feels like

Stays in Yamagata show a narrow price spread between the most affordable and the most premium options — the overall scale is compact rather than dramatic. The best balance of cost and comfort tends to be in the standard tier, which often represents the most sensible value for most travellers.

How the hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy rooms sit at the lower end and are the most budget-friendly option, suitable for travellers prioritising basic cost savings. The standard tier is the sweet spot, offering noticeably better value than economy and working well for most visitors. The biggest step up in price comes when moving from standard to premium, so that is the main decision point for travellers weighing extra comfort against cost. Premium rooms command higher rates and appeal to those wanting a more comfortable stay or extra amenities relative to the standard tier.

When travellers from Australia typically book

Travellers from Australia usually book about 35 days ahead, with many securing rooms earlier in the priciest months. Rates are typically highest in August and lowest in April, so a budget-led trip is best planned for April when nightly rates tend to be at their lowest. Rooms here are commonly locked in several weeks ahead, and that tendency increases during the priciest month.
