Japan's super popular exhibition, "Kyofushin-ten," finally comes to Taiwan! Over 200,000 people visited in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan!
Sharp objects, confined spaces, being stared at by others… Or even some very ordinary things, have you ever had that feeling that you “can’t quite explain, but it just gives you the creeps”?
What “Kyofushin-ten” wants to discuss, is this “Kyofushin” (Japanese: きょうふしん, Chinese translation: sense of fear) hidden deep in the heart. The exhibition uses dozens of exhibits and experiences to help you re-understand those inexplicable but real fears.
First, let’s say this is not a haunted house, nor does it follow a bloody and scary route. It is an immersive exhibition that allows you to thoroughly explore what “fear” truly is within yourself.
What is "Kyofushin"?
It is that feeling of fear and unease that spontaneously arises in your body when facing a certain object or situation.
This fear, does not only come from direct threats to life safety or pain, sometimes, even things that seem not scary at all, will inexplicably make your heart pound —and you can’t explain why, you just feel scared.
“Kyofushin-ten” delves into these themes that everyone has encountered, but everyone’s fears are different, leading you step by step to re-confront your deepest fears.
Perhaps after visiting, you will better understand how to live with that fear in your heart.

Q: Are there any ticket discounts available? A: Yes. This exhibition offers early bird and pre-sale ticket discounts. Early bird tickets: August 10, 2026 – August 23, 2026; pre-sale tickets: August 24, 2026 – September 6, 2026. In addition, persons with disabilities and children aged elementary school (inclusive) and below can enter for free (all must be accompanied by an adult), but accompanying persons still need to purchase tickets separately.

Q: Is there an age limit for viewing the exhibition? A: There is no age limit. Children aged elementary school (inclusive) and below must be accompanied by an adult to enter the exhibition.

Q: Can I re-enter? A: Re-entry is not permitted.

Buying the early bird ticket was a great deal, only a little over 300 per person! You can choose your time slot when purchasing on the official website, but Klook tickets are open-ended and can be used directly upon arrival. I went to the exhibition early on a weekend morning, and the experience was quite good. If it's very crowded, I recommend going another day, because the labels for each artwork have very small text and are at different heights; some are on the floor and some are on the walls, requiring a lot of bending and squatting.

Taiwan has many unique exhibitions, and it's interesting to learn about the various conscious and unconscious fears that humans experience. I tried some of the exhibits, like those for trypophobia and sharp objects pointing at you. While I didn't feel fear for everything, I realized that some things you might consider harmless are actually enough to terrify others.

I had high expectations for this exhibition, but after visiting, I found it wasn't quite what I had imagined. The exhibition wasn't very interactive; most of it was videos, and both my friend and I were a bit disappointed... (the headless dolls were probably the scariest part).
