Fantastic 5.0
Convenient Transportation: Getting to the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) is incredibly easy! It's only a 2-minute walk from the MRT exit. Service: The staff are very friendly. Since I was going to AIT, it was also very convenient to store my luggage. Breakfast: They offer both Chinese and Western options, including hot food, salad, and bread. However, the selection isn't extensive. It's small but well-curated and efficient, though not particularly memorable in terms of taste. Cleanliness: I've stayed twice. The first time, there was a slight water stain on the wall, but the second time, it was very clean and new. Even the air conditioning was much quieter! The air was also fresh with no strange odors!

Opened in 2023, Taipei Jiantan Pulu Hotel is conveniently located near Jiantan MRT Station, meaning it's not far from Shilin Night Market. It offers underground parking for compact cars (with a height limit of 1.9 meters), and the rooms are brand new. Plus, there's a women's large public bath, and with its affordable prices, it's definitely an excellent choice in Taipei City!

The best hotel!! The building is right after you exit the Ximen Exit 4 and Exit 5. The staff are very accommodating and even let us check in earlier since we had a dinner reservation to prepare for. Superb breakfast buffet, great service, clean room, and a plus point for their free luggage room.

Fantastic 5.0
I'm very satisfied with the location. It's close to the station, there's a FamilyMart next door, a Starbucks, and lots of food options in the basement. The service was also great; staff opened the door for me when entering and exiting, which was very helpful when I had heavy luggage. Although the building is old, I have no complaints. I was happy to find a water server where I could get hot and cold water anytime. The room was spacious, and I'm glad I chose this hotel. Thank you!

Fantastic 5.0
Amazing stay! Super convenient as one of the Ximen train exits was just outside the Hotel. This train station exit was stairs only thou. Just diagonally accross the street from the Ximen shopping district, and a convenient store downstairs. We got a corner room on the 13th floor (1316) and did not encounter the sound issues that others complained off. Bed was comfy as well, we enjoyed 5 quiet nights of sleep. Room was generally clean, except some crumbs on the carpet. Staff were really nice, friendly, and accomodating. We asked for an extra luggage rack and they delivered as well. As stated in their website, only hand bar soap, body soap and shampoo provided. They also provided water and clean towels. We came prepared with our own toiletries. Only thing was that the security safe in the room was not drilled in, it can be easily carried away.. so we didnt use it..

Fantastic 5.0
I had a great stay at Hotel Papa Whale. The building design was really unique and different, but I actually liked its style and overall vibe. My room was spacious enough and had all the basic things I needed for a comfortable stay. Just a small reminder: bring your own toothpaste and toothbrush, or buy some nearby if you didn’t pack any. The location was also very convenient — around a 6-minute walk to the Ximen area, which made it easy to explore, shop, and eat. There are also multiple 7-Eleven stores nearby, so it was very easy to grab snacks, drinks, or anything else I needed. Overall, it was a comfortable and convenient stay, and I’d recommend it especially if you want to be near Ximending.

Fantastic 5.0
BEST HOTEL. Big room, clean sheets, smells nice, comfortable bed, automated toilet bowl. Free snacks, coffee, juice, beer at Basement 1. Oani Hotel is in the middle (2-3 mins walk) of Hi Life, 7/11, Family Mart, Cosmed & around 5 local food stores & 2 train exits. Coffe shop annex at the front desk. Ximending walking district is across the street around 5 mins walk. You can go down the train station to cross from Oani Hotel to Ximending walking district (vice versa) if it is raining.

More about Taipei hotels

Quick snapshot of staying in Taipei

Staying in Taipei ranges from very affordable to distinctly upscale: the top-tier rooms run at roughly four times the price of the most budget options, so there’s a wide spread to choose from. The best value tends to be in the premium tier, which hits the sweet spot between comfort and cost for most travellers.

How the hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy rooms sit at the entry level and are noticeably cheaper than the tiers above, making them a practical choice for budget-focused travellers. Standard rooms step up from economy with more comfort for a modest increase in price, suiting travellers who want better basics without a big jump. The premium tier offers the best value and represents a clear upgrade in quality; this is where many travellers find the best balance. The largest price leap comes when moving from premium to luxury, so deciding whether that extra spend is worth it is the main fork in the road for cost-versus-comfort choices.

When travellers from Australia typically book

Rooms are usually booked about eight weeks in advance, so Australian travellers often lock in accommodation roughly two months before arrival, and this becomes more common in the priciest month. December is typically the priciest month for nightly rates, while September is typically the cheapest; travellers on a budget will find September best for lower rates. With last-minute availability often extending to a couple of weeks out, plans can stay reasonably flexible, but booking earlier is advisable for travel in December.
