Things to do in Sakaimachi

Mainly booked this tour because I wanted to visit Cape Kamui, which is not easy to reach by public transport. Seeing the famous Shakotan Blue on a clear day was absolutely worth the price and the long journey. The added bonus was getting to see the Shakotan Coast, visit Otaru, and stop at Shiroi Koibito Park all in the same day. As expected, the schedule was quite tight, but this is understandable given the long distances we had to cover and the number of places included in the itinerary. Our guide, Cici, was pleasant and helpful. However, I felt the tour could have been more informative. She provided translations in Japanese and Chinese and read the English descriptions from her notes, but there wasn't much additional interesting information or storytelling about the places we visited. A little more background, local history, or interesting facts would have made the experience more engaging.

We had a wonderful trip led by our guide, Donghwan! We chose this tour because it included the Hill of the Buddha, Otaru, and another stop in between. I traveled with a friend on Friday, September 18th. The weather was hotter than Seoul, with strong autumn sunshine. Short sleeves, shorts, and a light cardigan were perfectly sufficient. Our guide provided explanations about our destination just before arrival and also recommended places to visit and eat in Otaru, which was very helpful. If you're considering this tour, just keep in mind that lunch is usually after 2 PM and will be in Otaru!

This tour was really nice : we explored a lot by ourselves but had explanations and infos beforehand. The guide was mostly near the bus so easy to find. The driver was really nice as well. It was a bit difficult though to get to Cape Kamui so early in the morning (especially after the 2 hour ride which had breaks, dont worry) and maybe having a bit more time would allow to get to the end. We stopped in Otaru for the canal and also to eat lunch and do some shopping- I got a bit lost but it was fine, there wasn’t much. I already went to Shiroi Kobito Park so it wasn’t much of anything new for me - but this time it was quite busy so a bit harder to wander around and come back in time. But overall it was a great tour- I really recommend EasyGoJapan (I believe they were the ones who organised this tour)- they are always great on transport and guides and itineraries and very easy to find as well. Everyone I met on those tours were so nice - the guides, the other tourists and the bus driver.

Rita was a wondeful guide! Very welcoming, sweet, and also gave us wonderful advice. I think the itinerary was properly planned and we were able to experience and explore the most beautiful and unique parts of Hokkaido. Highly recommend!

This Yoichi and Otaru day trip offered a truly special experience! Traveling with the guide by subway and bus, it felt less like a typical tour bus itinerary and more like navigating the streets and alleys as a local, allowing for a deeper immersion into Hokkaido's daily life and local atmosphere. The itinerary included visits to a whiskey distillery and a sake brewery, where we not only learned about the brewing process but also witnessed the Japanese artisans' unwavering commitment to quality. Upon arriving in scenic Otaru, we even got to handcraft our own unique music boxes, creating one-of-a-kind travel souvenirs. Overall, the itinerary was rich in content and full of unique features, combining culture, cuisine, and hands-on experiences. It was incredibly rewarding and a truly unforgettable journey, highly recommended for travelers looking to explore Hokkaido in depth!

We really enjoyed the trip to Hell Valley, Lake Toya and Otaru. Our tour guide is very nice,professional,and thoughtful. He explained the history of Hokkaido and every scenic spots in detail . we booked three tours via klook. We got to say that compared to other tour guides in other tour group, this tour guide has excellent language skills in English, Chinese and Japanese. And we also noticed that during our trip only one visitor from Spain needed to have English interpretation. In order not to disturb other visitors, he walked to the back row,sat with him and interpreted for him. Other things which impressed us a lot are a variety of music boxes and steaming Hell Vally. By the way, we will definitely come back to Hokkaido in the winter again.

At the top, there's a Chipmunk Garden, Tengu Shrine, and other activities to enjoy.
