Transport in Rome

Hassle free travel with EU rail pass. used it recently in mid june to travel from Switzerland to Como> Milan > Rome > Florence > Venice > Bled > Hallstatt > Prague. Usually on discount around December and during spring season in April.

When you exit the terminal at Rome's airport and head all the way to the right, you will first see the taxi stand and further down, the bus stops. You can catch the Terravision bus at stop number 18, which goes toward either the Vatican or Termini Station. While taking a taxi has the advantage of dropping you off right in front of your accommodation, taking the bus is the most cost-effective choice if your lodging is close to the drop-off point. However, if your accommodation is a bit far, the area around Termini Station can feel a bit unsafe at night.

It's necessary to arrive 20 minutes early because seating is limited and there are no standing tickets. When I went, there was someone selling tickets on-site, and they had a card machine, so I could just swipe my card to get the ticket. There was no need to go to a counter to buy tickets, which was really convenient. However, I had already purchased my tour through Klook in advance, so I had to wait for staff to verify the QR code instead. I took the 9:30 AM bus, but the journey was almost an hour. The return trip was at 4:30 PM, so there was plenty of time for shopping.

Bought the Trenitalia pass on Klook and got my e-ticket instantly. Activation was super easy and the QR code worked at every station from Rome to Venice. Trains were punctual, clean, and comfortable. Having unlimited travel saved me so much vs buying single tickets and let me do spontaneous day trips. Klook’s customer support was also responsive when I had a question. Best way to explore Italy by train!

Very easy to use this service, just come out from terminal and check the boards for which station number the bus is (you just need to know the carrier) and queue up at the assigned station. Your voucher will be scanned, you will be asked which stop you need, and directed which side of the bus to place your items. From there, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. The driver announced each stop loud and clear, and helps to retrieve luggage at the stops. Would recommend if you want a low cost and easy ride after your flight.

We were staying at a hotel near the Vatican and had planned to take the train from Termini Station to the airport, but when we found this service and saw we could board nearby, we booked it 30 minutes before departure. There was a staff member on-site to guide us. The bus was clean and it was a free-seating arrangement, but we were able to sit together in a pair of seats. We were dropped off right in front of the airport departure terminal, so it ended up being much easier than taking the train. We even got to see Rome's famous traffic firsthand.

There are many different operators running this service, so it’s important to confirm the correct bus bay. One staff member directed me to the wrong bay, but fortunately I double-checked and managed to board the right bus. The bus was quite old and the legroom was limited. Since we were staying near Termini, I think taking the train would have been a better option for me.

This time, taking the bus from the airport to Termini Station was very quick and convenient. The bus departed on time, and it took approximately 45 minutes to reach the station. The staff were also very helpful with large luggage, which was a thoughtful touch.
