What to Expect at the Sakura Tulip Festival 2025
Once you step into the festival, prepare to be wowed by fields of vibrant tulips in every imaginable shade! Besides admiring the beautiful sights, guests can also indulge in other activities such as:
1. Check out the Dutch windmill
Made in the Netherlands and assembled in Sakura, the windmill “De Liefde” was built in 1994 and serves as a landmark for Sakura Furusato Square and as a symbol of goodwill between Japan and the Netherlands. It is also the first wind-driven water pump in Japan. A pic of the flowers and the windmill - how postcard-perfect is that?
P/S: Keep your eyes peeled - you might just see Miffy around in the colourful gardens too!
2. Take a scenic cruise
You can go on a sightseeing cruise across the adjacent Lake Inbanuma, from where you can enjoy panoramic views of the festival grounds. The boat ride takes about 40 minutes and runs only on Saturdays and Sundays.
🎟️ A ticket will set you back ¥1,000 (children ¥500).
3. Enjoy snacks at the festival food stalls
Feeling peckish after all that sightseeing? Stop by one of the various festival food trucks that are run by local restaurants for a quick pick-me-up.
