- Sunset × harbor view × red lanterns, perfect for photos
What to expect
As the sun sets, the surface of Otaru Port is dyed a golden orange. Stepping onto the yakatabune (houseboat) adorned with red lanterns, the first cup of sake is already in hand. For the next two hours, Otaru's century-old sake merchant "Takano" will curate the selection—fruitiness, acidity, umami, and spiciness, each cup unique. Paired with the owner's secret appetizers, understanding Japanese sake begins this very evening. We invite you to experience Hokkaido's only yakatabune sake tasting!
