A thoroughly recommendable experience! Tomoko took us on an enchanting walk through a temple, sharing fascinating and lively insights into Japanese traditions. She is an incredibly warm person who joyfully shares her knowledge, making it easy to recreate the dishes at home later. Furthermore, she is exceptionally knowledgeable about the sights around Tokyo and provides valuable tips. For the cooking event, Tomoko created a warm, inviting, and beautiful atmosphere where we immediately felt comfortable. The food was super delicious :) We wholeheartedly recommend this activity. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!
10/10 recommend, the food was absolutely amazing! We started the day with a quick visit to a temple and beautiful Japanese garden nearby Tomokitas house. I got lucky and was the only one who booked for the day so I got a private cooking class. Tomokitas explained how to do everything and showed some techniques to easily chop the vegetables. It was very relaxing and interesting to learn how to make traditional Japanese food. She showed me two different folding techniques for the gyozas, along with lots of recipes of the day and some more! If you enjoy cooking or just want to do something social I'd definitely recommend taking Tomokitas cooking class!!
Absolutely loved this experience. I highly recommend for anyone making a trip to Tokyo. Tomokita was such a lovely host, going above and beyond to accommodate us. Her class was extremely informative and easy to follow along. and all of the food was delicious! be sure to come on an empty stomach as you end up eating a 3 course meal, and trust me, you don’t want to leave anything out! And the little gift we got at the end was so special.
We had a wonderful half-day with Tomokita san, which started with a delightful walk through a beautiful valley beside a stream and stopping at a temple. We then began our cooking lesson which was so much fun, in a relaxed environment, and we enjoyed learning more about Japanese food culture. Then we got to enjoy eating what we had made, which was so tasty, and we have the recipes (plus more) to try at home. I will be recommending this experience to anyone I know who is visiting Tokyo. it was lovely getting out of the busyness of the Tokyo streets, into a more tranquil area with trees and the sound of birds.
This visit was the highlight of our Japan Holiday. The host is super friendly and passionate. More importantly she is a trained chef which makes her a great teacher too. we loved spending time with her and made a new friend for life.
We had such a wonderful time and our hostess Tomo was so welcoming and kind. The food she taught us to make was delicious and she even sent us with the recipes. She was very helpful in talking to us about places to visit in town and answered many questions for us. The 4 of us absolutely loved this experience. definitely our favorite in Japan so far!
This activity is simply a must do and please trust me that it will be one of the best activities you will do in Japan. Tomoko is very friendly and sweet and her cooking skills are amazing. Her food was one of the best i have had in Japan and my picky fiancee said that was actually the best she had in Japan. The whole experience was very practical and now we know how to make great gyoza and ramen. She also takes you to a very nice walk. On top of all that she makes great wine and salad dressing which she can provide the recipes for!
I had the best time cooking with Tomokita! the dishes were delicious and it was a super hands on experience. Tomokita is a great chef and teacher. The shrine we went to on our nature walk is the most beautiful one I’ve seen in Tokyo and was a great way to start the day. I would recommend this experience to everyone as you really get to learn a lot.
We had an amazing experience with Tomoko. She was really welcoming with us and specially with the kids. The short walk was a nice break from the busy streets of Tokyo and a cool way to discover a residential district. We really enjoyed making ramen and gyoza. The meal at the end was delicious. 100% recommand this experience during your stay in Tokyo.
This was the best cooking class we've ever taken, and we've done quite a few. Tomiko is incredibly friendly and explained all the steps clearly and understandably, so we ended up making the best ramen of our time in Tokyo ourselves. We will definitely be cooking these recipes at home. In addition to what we cooked, there was also homemade plum wine, plum syrup, pickled cucumbers, salad, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something. The scenery in Todoroki was also very beautiful, and afterward, we visited a temple together. Overall, there was a very cozy atmosphere. Our 12-year-old daughter was also wonderfully included.
