The app is quite convenient to use, but it's cheaper to buy tickets on the official website (Palace €20 + Park €10). You can also choose time slots, but the official website doesn't accept Lisbon Card discounts; you can only get those when buying tickets on-site, which means queuing up. Going early in the morning or just before closing will significantly reduce the crowds. On the official website, you can also add a shuttle bus ticket from the park entrance to the palace entrance, as there's still a distance between the park ticket entrance and the palace entrance.
We booked tickets for 10:30 AM. We took the 8:45 AM train, then transferred to bus 434, and finally took the Pena Palace shuttle bus, arriving at the ticket gate exactly at 10:25 AM. If possible, I recommend taking the 8:10 AM train instead, so you can enjoy your visit more leisurely! It's still advisable to book the Pena Palace shuttle bus, as it's about a 20-minute uphill walk from the park entrance to the ticket gate!
Beautiful palace, but I couldn't go inside because I missed my time slot due to another attraction. Anyway, the queue was insane even with tickets. Lol, but the exterior itself is gorgeous, so honestly, I should have just bought the park ticket instead of the interior one.
I was accidentally late, but there's about a 30-minute grace period! However, the tuk-tuk driver said it's fine to be late; just show him the ticket and don't mention being accidentally late or that the train was delayed or anything like that! The staff will generally let you in directly, especially if there aren't many people. At least, I did what the tuk-tuk driver said and successfully got in.
Buying Sintra tickets through Klook is very convenient; you can directly scan the voucher barcode for entry. However, remember that the voucher states "There is no delay tolerance," so be sure to arrive early to queue for admission. The walk from the park entrance to Sintra Palace is shown as 10 minutes on Google Maps, but it's actually a steep uphill climb, so remember to allow extra time to walk at a leisurely pace. There's also a shuttle bus in the park, running every 15 minutes (the bus takes 3 minutes to reach Sintra Palace), but the Klook ticket price does not include the bus fare. So, if you want to take the bus, remember to buy a ticket at the park entrance first. Otherwise, even if you've already queued up and are about to board, you'll be turned away (they only allow you to re-queue after buying a ticket; you cannot pay on the bus). Therefore, manage your time well, or you might end up like me, sprinting up the steep slope, fearing you'd be late and denied entry. In reality, I had an 11 AM ticket, and after my frantic run, I found that they hadn't even started letting 11 AM ticket holders in yet; everyone with an 11 AM ticket was still queuing outside. So, for those who are a bit bolder, you might aim to arrive at the palace entrance to queue by 11:30 AM (but I can't rule out that it was a holiday when I went, so there were more people...). Anyway, to be safe, just allow plenty of extra time!
Nice!!!! Buy the earliest slot! Follow the crowd, it's beautiful!!! Lots of photo opportunities! You can free download the guided tour!!!
