Strolling through Asakusa in Tokyo, time seems to slow down. This is where the traditional Yamato culture is closest to the modern bustling city. And the best way to experience Asakusa is to put on an exquisite kimono. A Journey Through Time Stepping out of the kimono rental shop today, the crisp 'clack-clack' sound of wooden clogs announces the official beginning of Asakusa's classical romance. Kaminarimon and Nakamise-dori: Passing through the giant red lantern, walking along the bustling approach. Dressed in a colorful, elegantly patterned kimono, holding a freshly baked ningyo-yaki, one unconsciously blends into this ukiyo-e painting full of Edo charm. The Lingering Incense of Senso-ji Temple: Standing in front of the main hall, joining the crowd in wafting the incense smoke over oneself to pray for peace. At this moment, the wide sleeves of the kimono flutter gently in the wind, complementing the surrounding vermilion carved beams and painted structures, making every frozen moment a breathtaking scene. A gentle breeze blows, smoothing the delicate folds of the kimono. Here, a kimono is not just a garment; it is a passport to an immersive experience of traditional Japanese aesthetics. I wish to use this elegant posture to leave behind a warm memory of time in Asakusa. Location: Asakusa
I didn’t want to waste wearing the kimonos, so I opted to get a photographer so we could get nice pictures! I definitely did not regret since we got so many nice photos (60+ in total in fact)! After we changed into our kimonos, the photographer led us to 3 different locations to take the photos. He was also really good in directing; he told us where to stand and how to pose so we would look great! After the shoot, he sent us an email to confirm the address and we received a Google Drive with all the photos 2 days after. I would consider doing the 1-hour shoot next time to get more photos, but 30-minute shoot was already great to get 60+ photos already. Highly recommended so you could keep memories of your kimono rental experience!
It was my husband’s first time in Japan, so I wanted us to experience this together! The owner spoke fluent English (and Chinese) so it was extremely easy to communicate. He also had our booking ready, I just had to give the registered name and he had our record pulled up! Since we picked the basic package, we could only choose from the cheapest kimonos, but they were already so cute! The kimonos came with obis (belt), traditional sandals, and bags for us to use. The package also had hairstyling included, so I felt like a local housewife in the olden times with how I looked in the end~ The staff were very professional and helped us dress up (there was a separate area for men and women). There were even lockers where we could keep our things. Walking in the sandals was surprisingly difficult, but overall, we had a lot of fun! Will definitely try this again the next time we visit Japan, but will choose the lace kimono for a more elegant look!
Honestamente, no tengo ninguna queja. Toda la experiencia fue perfecta.
Super aardig personeel.
Mis amigas y yo reservamos a última hora.
Our family of five went to this shop in the morning to rent kimonos, and the ladies also added Japanese makeup services. We booked online in advance and also used their photography service. The staff even spoke Chinese! The staff were very kind and friendly, and they also gave us suggestions on how to coordinate the entire kimono outfit. Lace kimonos are their original creation, and the styles are all very unique. My mother and I even chose new styles. Wearing pink made us look very youthful. The black one, with its red underlayer visible in the sunlight, was very elegant and beautiful! The weather was cold that day, and the staff even lent us different styles of shawls, which was very thoughtful. The photographer also spoke Chinese. He met us at the shop that day and then took us to Senso-ji Temple for the photoshoot. He patiently taught us how to pose, and the photos turned out beautifully! In just one hour, we took family photos, couple photos, and individual photos. It was a very pleasant morning :) Highly recommended, a very good experience!
The staff are truly wonderful and very patient throughout the entire process, from choosing the style to getting dressed. When I couldn't decide on a pattern, they helped me take out several sets to compare, working skillfully and gently. When tying the obi, they carefully asked if it was too tight, which felt very thoughtful. When doing my hair, they offered suggestions based on my face shape; it was fast, looked great, and they kept complimenting me, which really brightened my mood. The store environment is clean and tidy, the kimonos are neatly hung, accessories are clearly categorized, and there's ample fitting space. The overall feeling is very comfortable, with no sense of pressure at all. I genuinely feel this is a shop run with great care, not just for business. If I rent a kimono again, I will definitely come back to support them.
The ladies who dressed us were so welcoming and efficient, and they took such care when dressing us. Such a lovely experience choosing a kimono! Very good experience, thank you for the efficient service and suggestions🫶🏻
