Aula de Cerâmica no Clay Craft Pottery Studio

First stop in Bali! The pottery studio is a small classroom located within the resort's restaurant. Based on the setup, it looks like it can accommodate about 6 people for pottery making at the same time. The earliest pottery class starts at 11 AM. Our flight arrived at the airport around 7 AM, and the car ride to the resort took about 40 minutes, so we arrived quite early. We decided to have a buffet breakfast at the restaurant, which cost around HKD 150 per person. There are two types of pottery options. One is to sculpt your piece and then order assistance with glazing, with several color choices available. The other option is to sculpt your piece and then design and glaze it yourself. Since we felt we lacked artistic talent, we chose the first option. After the class began, the instructor first demonstrated basic techniques. Then, each person was given two approximately 1KG clay blocks to start creating their own pieces. Just tell the instructor what you want to make, such as plates, cups, or bowls, and they will guide you. If you mess up the shape, they will help you correct it so you can continue, so there's no need to worry. P.S.: 1KG of clay can make one large-sized piece or two small-sized pieces. The finished products can be taken home. Pottery generally requires several days to air dry, then glazing, and then further air drying. Therefore, as mentioned in the introduction, it's recommended to allow about 14 days for the studio to handle the subsequent processes. We only stayed for 8 days this time, so time was a bit tight, and we weren't sure if it would be ready in time. If it is ready, the finished product can be shipped to your hotel free of charge. If not, you might have to pay international shipping fees to have it sent home. Alternatively, the studio mentioned they can hold onto the artwork for 1 year. If you return within that year or if a friend visits Bali, you can request it be sent to their hotel or pick it up in person. Overall, the entire experience felt very cost-effective and I highly recommend adding this to your South Bali itinerary.

This was so much fun! Our instructor was very patient and helpful and we had such a great time here. We're given 2kg of clay with work with, and we get to keep 1kg of whatever we made. You can't take your items home immediately though, but they can mail it to you (at your own cost) or keep the items for up to a year so the next time you go back to Bali you can pick them up. I would highly recommend visiting Clay Craft Pottery if you're in Uluwatu.

※Once a reservation is made, it cannot be canceled! Please check the distance before making a reservation. ※It takes 2 weeks for the pottery to be fired, so consider your schedule carefully. It was my first time, and I personally found it very enjoyable. When making it, some clay water splatters, so I recommend wearing shorts and slippers. They do provide an apron, but it still splatters all over your legs. (Perhaps I'm just not careful enough...) I'm not sure if the teacher changes, but the teacher who was in charge was very good. Since I was the only one who made a reservation, I made two clay pieces? Only one was fired... The place is a bit out of the way, so it's best to go a little early and ask for directions around the area!

Had such a good time at this pottery workshop! Our trainer Suja was awesome - super accommodating and had a light, friendly vibe about him. He explained everything really well and was so helpful, but also gave us the freedom to just be ourselves and get creative. Definitely coming back and bringing friends next time!

What an interesting experience. This was my first ever pottery class, and Bli patiently guided me through the process. This is a good choice if you want a relaxing trip itinerary. Thank you, Bli, whose name I forgot.

It was a really good experience, having a seasoned instructor to guide you along. It takes 2 weeks to have the final product to be completed, so do plan your trip timing well if you intend to self collect. Nice drink after the session is included!

I booked a class on a Friday. It was really private. I had one to one coaching. The instructor Budhi, has very good english and a lot of patience teaching. It was my first time trying pottery. He even gave me few other clay to play around once I’m finished with my project. After completing, he waited while I paint over my creation. All in all a very relaxing activity and would definitely try again next time!
