We took the 7322C Alishan route from Chiayi Train Station. We originally missed the 8:10 AM bus, so we had to wait for the 8:40 AM one. Unexpectedly, the bus arrived at 8:30 AM. Passengers with physical tickets boarded first, followed by those scanning QR codes, and finally, passengers using EasyCards. It was a weekend (Saturday), and fortunately, there weren't many passengers in the morning, so my travel companion and I were able to sit together. Upon arriving at Alishan, we successfully entered the forest recreation area using our QR codes. For the return trip, we took the 3:40 PM bus. There were noticeably more people heading down the mountain, and my companion and I were forced to sit separately. However, if we didn't take this bus, we would have had to wait until 4:10 PM, so we made do (the last bus was at 5:10 PM). It was already dusk when we arrived in Chiayi City. The journey up the mountain took about 2.5 hours. Although the mountain roads were winding, the driver was experienced and drove steadily, allowing us to enjoy the scenery along the way or take a short nap. Overall, it was convenient to take the bus, making it suitable for travelers who prefer not to drive themselves.

This is a very convenient option when going to Alishan. You just really need to take note of the bus schedule and put at least 30 minutes of time allowance since there's a queue, especially for the first trip going to Alishan (9:30 am) and the last trip going back to Chiayi HSR Station (4:40 pm). Overall, this is a very convenient option. P.S. Alishan uses their wooden train cars during Wednesdays.

This trip to Taiwan, I want to take my body to recharge with fresh air at Alishan National Park, or Alishan. After deciding to take Taiwan Tourist Shuttle to Alishan, I compared several platforms and even called the Chiayi County Bus Office to ask if advance seat reservations were needed. I judged that August 20th was a weekday, so queuing should be enough to get a seat. Thus, I booked a round-trip ticket for the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Alishan Line via Klook, plus a ticket to the Forest Recreation Area. The cost was about 10% cheaper than the original price, and with the first-time app download, I received a NT$100 discount coupon. This was likely the cheapest among all platforms. For both the outbound and return journeys, arriving about 10 minutes before departure allowed for smooth boarding. Highly recommended for travelers who need to go to Alishan independently!
