Unfortunately, it's fruit season in this park until the end of March, or even mid-April, so the orangutans don't come to the feeding station. However, the guide, Mr. Mas Daud, suggested an alternative: another wildlife park also about an hour from Kuching. The animals there are in enclosures, though, as it's a rescue center and each animal has a less-than-pleasant past. But I saw a lot on the approximately one-hour circular walk. The guide was simply sensational, explained a lot, and when he knew I was also interested in small animals, he stopped everywhere and showed me some that I, as a tourist, wouldn't have even noticed. All in all, a perfect afternoon tour, highly recommended.

Mr Mas and Mr Foo were friendly and upfront to us during the tour. Mr Mas informed us that orang utans had not shown up in Semmengoh wildlife centre for almost 2 months due to fruit season and offered to bring us to Matang wildlife centre instead where we saw orang utans, hornbills and sun bears etc. Thank you for making the tour an enjoyable one :)

The pickup from the hotel was on time. We ended up being the only ones in the join-in group. The guide provided information all along the driving. He helped us bypass all the q at the center and explained us what to do and what we would be seeing. We saw seven orangutans eating and planes. It was an amazing experience. Highly recommend

Our guide, Mr. Saini, picked us up and we headed to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre. Luckily for us, Gyana, a 17-year-old male orangutan, showed up for breakfast! The park ranger was providing information about the orangutans and the sanctuary.

We purchased tickets in advance through Klook, and the experience was seamless, with round-trip transportation included. Our local guide was highly knowledgeable about orangutans and their behaviors, sharing fascinating insights throughout the journey. We were incredibly fortunate to see seven orangutans during our visit, who stayed near the viewing platforms and feeding areas for an extended time. Observing them in a (semi-)natural environment and witnessing the conservation efforts in action was truly inspiring.

Our guide was friendly and punctual. He was humorous and gave us lots of insights into Sarawak. We truly enjoyed our time at the orangutan sanctuary. The place was well taken care of, and we were lucky to see 2 orangutans (despite having to zoom in 10 times with our cameras LOL).

Sayangnya saat itu musim berbuah, jadi tidak ada orangutan yang datang. Perjalanan dan antisipasinya menyenangkan, tetapi kerumunan TURIS YANG SANGAT BERISIK membuat suasana tidak nyaman meskipun penjaga hutan sudah memberi tahu mereka dengan jelas bahwa kita harus sangat tenang. Rasanya seperti piknik di pantai tanpa tikar piknik dan makanan. Tetapi ketika Anda sudah memperkirakan hampir tidak ada orangutan sejak awal, itu tidak masalah. Pengalaman itu sendiri mendebarkan.

Managed to see 3 orangutans and 1 giant squirrel. The nature reserve ranger feeds them twice a day, at 9 am and 3 pm.
