We didn’t get to experience Hanoi’s famous Train Street, but we did get to ride the actual train that passes through it—and honestly, it was an experience of its own. We were lucky to have our cabin all to ourselves, which made us feel like VIPs throughout the journey. Before boarding, we also enjoyed access to the Sapa Lounge, where we were able to freshen up with a shower. The trip from Sapa to Hanoi was peaceful, comfortable, and relaxing. Although the train takes longer than a sleeper bus or limousine, it’s a great option if you have extra time and prioritize better rest, comfort, and safety. Overall, I highly recommend taking the train, especially if you want a more relaxing and enjoyable travel experience.

It was an amazing experience. Even though it was a bit jerky, I really had a great sleep because there was a pillow and comforter. The snacks were also amazing. The VP Sapa train also has a lounge where you can sleep while waiting. The staff were also helpful and kind and helped us every step of the way before we left for Hanoi.

VicSapa is een uitstekende keuze, met schone kamers en toiletten. De chauffeur van het busje haalde ons op in Sapa en bracht ons naar Lao Cai, wat bijna een uur duurde. Daarna verbleven we ongeveer 2,5 uur in de VicSapa Lounge. Ze hebben een restaurant met lekker eten, evenals badkamers en doucheruimtes waar je je kunt opfrissen voordat je de trein instapt. De lounge is gunstig gelegen, direct tegenover het treinstation. Ik voelde me eerst een beetje duizelig in de trein, en het kan een beetje lawaaierig zijn, maar je went er uiteindelijk aan. Ik raad dit aan als je liever ligt tijdens de terugreis naar Hanoi. Snacks, water, toiletartikelen, schone kussens en dekens zijn aanwezig, en ze verkopen ook extra snacks tijdens de rit. Houd er wel rekening mee dat de bedden en cabines vrij klein en smal zijn. Over het algemeen is het een comfortabele en gemakkelijke ervaring.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They served us tea and some snacks while we waited for our train. When it was time to board, the staff guided us all the way to the platform and to our cabin. After we settled in, they checked again to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall, we had a very pleasant and comfortable journey. Highly recommended!

O ar-condicionado funcionou bem, talvez um pouco frio, mas cobertores foram fornecidos. O trem partiu no horário e chegou cedo pela manhã em Lao Cai, onde um micro-ônibus nos pegou para Sapa. Sim, o trem balança e chacoalha um pouco, mas isso faz parte do charme! Dormimos melhor do que o esperado. Altamente recomendado se você quiser economizar uma noite de hotel e viajar enquanto dorme.

The journey from Sapa to Hanoi was smooth and well-organized. I received a WhatsApp message about my pickup and train details, which made everything easy. The lounge at Lao Cai station was nice, though the food was just okay. It was my first time on a sleeper train, and it turned out to be a memorable experience. The cabin was comfortable, shared it with two others, and I slept really well! Even though the train was slightly delayed due to a typhoon, I appreciated the WhatsApp message notifying me on this.

The train check-in counter is on the second floor, to the left of the station lobby. There's a lounge inside where you can rest after checking in. You can board the train approximately 40 minutes before departure. I booked a double room for two, which had one large bed and came with water bottles, bananas, snacks, a comb, toothpaste and toothbrush, earplugs, and tissues. The carriage environment was very clean, and the air conditioning was strong. Each carriage had a toilet and a sink, but no shower facilities. In the morning, when the train was approaching the station, staff would knock on the door to notify passengers. If you need additional food or coffee, there's an extra charge. Overall, the experience was very good, though the train swayed and was quite noisy throughout the journey, making it difficult to sleep. Additionally, it was very convenient to purchase a transfer from the station to Sapa town at the same time, so you don't have to worry about being overcharged by drivers outside. Once you arrive at the station, just walk to the station entrance, and you'll see a driver holding a sign with your name on it, waiting for everyone to board together.

Taking the sleeper train from Sapa to Hanoi was such a pleasant and unique experience. The cabin was comfortable, with a clean room and bathroom, making the overnight journey more enjoyable. We were well attended to by the staff, especially while waiting at the VIP lounge, which was a nice touch. The train can be a little shaky and loud at times, but earplugs are provided, and we still managed to get some good rest. Snacks and basic toiletries were also included, which added to the comfort. A trip to Sapa definitely calls for a sleeper train experience! VicSapa has a partner lounge right next to the train station. We arrived in Lao Cai city at noon for the 9:30 PM train. The staff were still cleaning but warmly welcomed us in to rest and store our luggage. There are free shower rooms with toiletries provided, so you can freshen up after a day of activities before boarding the train comfortably. Around 8:30 PM, the staff will escort you to Lao Cai station for boarding. The train's interior is charmingly antique, with complimentary food and drinking water. After departure, a staff member will push a cart selling items. The air conditioning is cool, and the beds are comfortable for a good night's sleep, allowing you to sleep soundly until morning!

I would advise booking a pick-up and drop-off service from your hotel in Sapa to the train station, as the distance between the hotel and the Sapa train station is 30 km, and taxi costs are higher. Moreover, the train itself is just average, so I would recommend booking the best train available for a more enjoyable experience. Each coach has an attendant who helps with your luggage, both when boarding and upon arrival in Hanoi from Sapa. There will be a helper to assist you with your bags at the station. I highly recommend this train booking; it's a good experience.
