There were advertisements and directional signs everywhere inside the building, so I was able to find my way without getting lost. The merchandise store is on the lower floor, and if you take the escalator directly in front of it, you'll reach the exhibition area. Just by looking at the original artworks and videos on display, it felt like watching the movie Look Back one more time, and even more deeply. It might be the first time my eyes welled up while watching an exhibition (my heart swelled every time Kyomoto's "Mitai!" kept echoing periodically throughout the exhibition...). As someone who can read Japanese, it was an even more enriching exhibition, reading the director's notes containing thoughts on key scene dialogues and drawings. I later found out from other reviews that you could pay for an audio guide (I knew it existed because there were audio guide signs in each section, but I didn't know how to use it), and I regret not having listened to it. If you were deeply moved by Look Back and are planning a trip to Tokyo, I highly recommend visiting. Even if you don't speak Japanese, it's an exhibition well worth enjoying.
To suddenly look back and go to Japan to play 🤩 It was really worth going, the exhibition was very sincere. The only downside was not understanding Japanese 😂 I used a translator to read everything. It would be better if there was an audio guide in other languages.
It was an incredibly detailed and delicate exhibition, enough to make any Look Back fan swoon. The Look Back OSTs playing in the exhibition hall also helped with immersion.
Ease of booking with Klook: Purchased the day before at an advance ticket price. Super easy! Price: A bit expensive, but highly recommended and worth more than the cost! Facilities: The venue isn't particularly large, but the detailed explanations and rich content make up for it. Experience: It wasn't overly crowded on a holiday afternoon; the level of crowdedness was acceptable. The exhibition utilized the high ceilings, creating a sense of density beyond its actual space. The content was breathtaking! I felt as if I had a small glimpse into Director Oshiyama's inner world, including his dedication to hand-drawn lines, intricate settings, his gaze towards Fujino and Kyomoto, and his reverence for the original story. Although I'm outside the industry, it still motivated me. This exhibition was nothing but beneficial for anyone involved in creation!
A great collection and documentation of how the film was made. There was also a couple of recreation of sets in the movie. You can purchase merch without a ticket/needing to enter the venue. you can skip the ticket purchase line with klook and directly scan the QR code to enter which is convenient.
A truly worthwhile exhibition. Every frame and image of the animation is so detailed that watching it makes you want to cry with emotion... The merchandise on site is very tempting, although I only went on the second to last day, and many popular items were already sold out 🥹
If you understand Japanese, I highly recommend paying 770 yen for the audio guide. It was excellent!
