Excursão de um dia ao Monte Aso e ao Pequeno Trem Takachiho na Província de Kumamoto

Although there was no Korean guide, the staff kindly explained the meeting time and itinerary to me personally in English. The schedule wasn't too tight, and they gave us plenty of time. We went to ride the Amaterasu Railway, booked tickets, and after seeing the Takachiho Gorge, we came back to ride the Amaterasu train again. The railway itself wasn't particularly exciting, but it was still nice. Haha, the gorge was also wonderful. You can just follow the guide. Even if you're a bit late taking photos, you can find the guide's yellow flag, and they also told us when and where to meet for the return journey. They even kindly took photos for us. Then, they gave us time for lunch and plenty of time to look around Kusasenri. After that, we went to the Nakadake crater, but unfortunately, access was restricted, so we only saw it from below. Still, it was really good. I highly recommend this tour.

We are not Chinese speakers, but we really enjoyed our time, thanks to our guide Jiang Cui, who was always considerate of us and explained or translated everything into English. This made us feel comfortable. The timings were well-kept, even though they felt a bit tight due to the travel distance between each spot. On the day of our visit, the Aso Volcanic Center was closed, so we missed our chance, but we enjoyed walking around Kusasenri and exploring local products. The transport was a comfortable, safe, and well-temperature-adjusted mini-bus. Overall, my family enjoyed our day trip at a good price.

Because transportation to Aso and Takachiho is inconvenient and time-consuming, I joined a one-day tour. The tour guide, Jiang Cui, was enthusiastic and friendly. I went in June 2026 during the rainy season, so it was definitely raining in the mountains, which unfortunately made the scenery less beautiful. The first stop was the Takachiho Gorge Railway Station (disposable raincoats are sold there). Next, there was a hiking trail to see the gorge, leading to the shuttle bus pick-up point (remember to take an earlier bus back to the original starting point for assembly; don't insist on walking back) (the car is a 9-seater, only one at a time). There was an old lady selling hot mochi and ice cream there, which was quite good. If you like any of the local specialties upstairs, you should buy them then, as they might not be available on the way back down the mountain. The next stop was Takachiho Shrine to see the giant sacred tree. Finally, we arrived at the Kusasenri Rest Stop. The second floor here sells full meals (very expensive), while the first floor has local specialties and a coffee shop. Again, if you like anything, buy it, as some cookies are exclusive to this store. The overall itinerary was well-paced, and there was enough time for photos without feeling rushed. I'm not sure if the driver had a daily work hour limit, but it felt like they drove quite fast throughout the trip.

This time, I participated in a Klook one-day tour. Tour guide Ge provided excellent service, and the itinerary was not too rushed. He explained the characteristics of each attraction in detail, and his voice was particularly pleasant. Next time I come to Kumamoto for a one-day tour, I hope to meet Tour Guide Ge again.

The timing was perfectly coordinated, with one link connecting to the next. Our guide, Shan Shan, was excellent and very familiar with the terrain. Today, we went up and saw the volcano crater, which was magnificent.

I chose this tour because there were no products with Korean guides available on a weekday. I was a bit worried since it was a Chinese-speaking guide product, but thanks to guide Ningning, it was an enjoyable tour. She explained in Chinese and then again in English. It was also great that she wrote down the meeting times on paper. She offered to take photos at the photo spots first, so even though I was traveling alone, I was able to get some amazing shots. After the tour, I thanked her in short Chinese for her hard work, and I want to thank her again^^

Tour guide Ge is very gentle and friendly, and always explains the itinerary and schedule in detail beforehand. The train tickets can only be purchased on-site, and the actual itinerary progress can easily be affected by this. The tour guide helped us purchase tickets for the 11:40 train, so we changed our plan to visit Takachiho Gorge first and then return to take the train. Therefore, it is not recommended to book the boat ride in advance.

The tour was well organized and the guide, Ning Ning, was helpful and patient. We didn't get to ride the small train as tickets were sold out for the day. But overall, the tour was still fun and enjoyable.

The tour plan was exactly as targeted. The guide was extremely attentive and provided the best assistance and recommendations. The attractions were beautiful, the car departed and arrived on time, and the driver was also excellent. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a one-day trip tour.

Unfortunately, we encountered a three-day holiday in Japan, which extended our travel time along the way. Therefore, we had to shorten the time spent at each attraction. I wonder if it's usually this rushed? Also, the long-awaited scenic train ride was not pre-booked; instead, the tour guide tried their luck buying tickets on the spot. As a result, we couldn't get seats and had to cancel this activity, opting instead to visit Takachiho Shrine. Although the train ticket price was not included in the itinerary, it was still a bit disappointing. However, Takachiho Shrine has a very good atmosphere, so a visit there to cleanse the mind was also a nice alternative.
