Oficina de Batik Contemporâneo de Yogyakarta e Tinturaria Natural

This Batik workshop was one of our favourite experiences in Jogja! We met Belinda and her mum at their cosy studio, a calming sanctuary surrounded by plants. They were incredibly patient, guiding us through every step and explaining how the techniques translate to commercial production. Belinda spoke excellent English and was so friendly. She encouraged us to create our own designs and even gave us tips to make them even prettier. We upgraded from the 2-hour to the 3-hour package so we could get our pieces dyed, and we were so glad we did! It gave us a real appreciation for the time and effort that goes into dyeing. Belinda and her mum were generous with their time and knowledge, and made us feel at home. Our finished pieces turned out far prettier than we imagined, thanks to their guidance. All in all, it was such a lovely afternoon and definitely an experience we will remember fondly! We left with such full hearts and, as a bonus, pretty souvenirs that we handcrafted ourselves. 💕

Meeting Belinda and Bu Herina is such great experience as they’re explain and teach you on the process of making batik in details. The whole experience is so fun and everyone should try.

체험하는 동안 계속 같이 있어주시고 세심하게 챙겨주셔서 좋았어요. 가정집에서 진행하는데 시간에 구애받지 않고 충분히 안전하게 진행할 수 있게 봐주십니다. 염색하는 공간은 마치 작은 정원 같아요. 집 곳곳에서 다양한 식물을 길러서 많은 꽃과 나뭇잎을 볼 수 있었어요. 천연염료가 되는 식물에 대해서도 소개해주시고 직접 기르시기도 합니다. 이번이 두번째 바틱체험이었는데 지역마다 바틱양식이나 도구가 다른 것도 알게 되어서 좋았어요.

Uma experiência verdadeiramente especial! Passei uma tarde adorável com a Belinda e a mãe dela. As instruções para encontrar a casa foram claras e a experiência de fazer batik foi tranquila e quase meditativa. Para quem ama plantas, o jardim da casa é realmente incrível e gostei muito de observar todas as plantas durante os intervalos em que o tecido secava. Não tenho nenhum talento artístico, mas as instruções claras e pacientes da Belinda fizeram com que o meu produto final ficasse muito melhor do que eu esperava. Como bônus, ela é uma excelente fotógrafa e envia fotos de alta qualidade da sua experiência no dia seguinte. Estou muito feliz por ter feito isso!

Belinda e sua família foram muito gentis. Ela explicou o processo de pintura em batik e quanto tempo leva. Isso faz você apreciar as formas de arte tradicional e definitivamente justifica por que vale a pena pagar por peças de arte tradicionais. O tempo e o esforço deles são valiosos. Espero que quem leia isso, seja do exterior ou do próprio país, entenda por que é importante apoiar as formas de arte locais e tradicionais. Algumas delas podem levar uma semana para serem feitas!

This was the best experience of our Java trip. Great time with the family. the waxing part was not easy at all but everyone managed somehow and the result is very personal. you should book full experience to have a ready to go canvas with colour and removed wax. And do not wear white 😉.

It was my first time trying to do batik and it was def a fun experience! Luckily I was the only student at the time slot and I could fully enjoy the class, thanks to Belinda and her mother with all the detailed instructions and dedicated attention to every step I was working on my first batik! The workshop, which is also a domestic household, is beautifully decorated and creates a very comfortable and local ambience for the class. Yogyakarta is not to be missed and neither should this batik workshop - if you are planning to visit Yogyakarta, do mark this workshop in your itinerary and I'm sure you will love it!

We booked the full batik experience one day in advance. Arrived in the morning, we were immediately charmed by the beautiful courtyard. Belinda gave us a detailed introduction to batik, including its different styles, materials, and the making process. We could choose traditional patterns, either simple or intricate, or create our own designs, like the Usagi character my friend chose. Belinda and Felisa kindly guided us throughout the whole experience. When I accidentally got some hot wax on my hand, Felisa patiently helped me apply some ointment. Belinda knew different languages to communicate with guests from around the world. A wonderful and memorable experience, and a lovely way to discover Yogyakarta’s culture.

My experience to make batik with Belinda and her mother is really a great and meaningful one. Their knowledge of batik is the best and they were very sweet and lovely. Her home and studio was just so beautiful and I could not stop admiring the trees and plants that they planted. Belinda and her mother’s hospitality was great, it feels very homely. I would encourage everyone to sign up for the sessions to get to know more about the batik culture.

Nous avons fait l’atelier Abhati Batik à Yogyakarta et c’était une superbe expérience !! Nous avons passé un moment des plus agréable en compagnie de l’équipe. l’accueil a été chaleureux et elles ont pris le temps de bien tout nous expliquer pour nous guider pas à pas vers un excellent résultat. c’est une activité que je vous recommande les yeux fermés à tous ceux qui passe par ici !!
