After arriving in Taiwan and dropping off my luggage at the hotel, I immediately went to the meeting point. I approached the group gathered there, showed them my reservation details just in case, and the friendly and proactive tour guide, Mr. Yu, immediately found my name on the list and greeted me. He was fluent in both English and Japanese, so he explained everything according to the nationalities of the tour participants. Although I am Korean, I requested explanations in Japanese as I am better at Japanese than English. Most of the guests were Japanese. He was so witty and entertaining in Japanese that I didn't even notice the time passing on the bus and laughed throughout the trip. The map he made was also very cute, and he's a talented person who made it himself. Following his explanations, I saw everything he recommended and ate everything I wanted. It was a bright summer day, and even though we left at 3:30 PM, the weather was pleasant, and the photos turned out well. The sunset in the afternoon was truly beautiful. Jiufen offers perfect photos no matter where you shoot. I took some once-in-a-lifetime photos and was so happy. He gave me a tip that if I wanted to visit a teahouse that usually requires a reservation, I could probably just go that day, and indeed, I got in without waiting in line. He explained the meeting point so well, as if he were telling children, and even took a commemorative photo with my son. He spared no effort for the tourists every second and every minute. Although many people who toured Yehliu arrived late in the afternoon, I didn't feel like I couldn't walk around as much as I thought. However, he did mention that the previous week was a holiday period, so it was less crowded. The line at the taro ball shop at the very top of A-Gan moved faster than expected, so I was able to eat in a place with a good view. For A-Mei Teahouse, he said they would make a reservation if there were many people, but after seeing the situation that day, he said we could probably get in without one, so we went there and had tea and snacks. The server also spoke Korean well and voluntarily took photos for us, which was great. The owner of the peanut ice cream shop was also very proactive in taking photos. Thanks to the guide's self-made map and thorough explanations, I really enjoyed sightseeing. Even though it was a half-day tour, on the way to Taipei Main Station, he dropped us off at Raohe Night Market and took the opportunity to get off and spend about 10 minutes explaining the location of the restrooms and the metro. He said we shouldn't say goodbye because it's sad, which was so lovely. We also took photos together and became Instagram friends. During the bus tour, he knew when we would be tired and gave us breaks. He went around to each person, asking if they had any discomfort or questions, told us about clean restrooms in various places, recommended good supermarkets and massage places, and never forced anything on us. I truly laughed and enjoyed the trip, and it was the most enjoyable time I had in Taiwan! There wasn't a single thing that made me feel bad because of the guide. If I come again, I would really, really, really love to meet him again and have the opportunity to tour with him!
