We booked this 1-day Kaohsiung Fun Pass for a last-minute, spontaneous day trip. We didn’t have time to reserve any day tours or private drivers, so this pass ended up being incredibly handy! It is completely digital and activated through the Taiwan Fun Pass app. It is super convenient because you just use the app's QR code to hop on buses and trains, and to get easy access into the tourist spots. The app is also really helpful because it gives you a full list of the available attractions so you know exactly what your options are for the day. To be completely honest, if you aren't planning to pack your schedule and use the pass to its fullest, it might be just as cost-effective to DIY and pay at the counter. But if you value convenience and want to avoid the hassle of buying individual tickets or fumbling for commute fares, this is definitely worth it. It’s so nice to just pull up the QR code and go!

For your personal itinerary, I recommend a DIY chess cake making experience in the morning (reservations required in advance). If driving, you can park near the Chess Cake Cultural Center on Zuoying Xialu (metered parking at 22.6835120, 120.2932941). Afterwards, you can explore the Lotus Pond area. After lunch, visit the Li Porcelain Art Museum, where your admission ticket can be used to offset parking fees. In the afternoon, head to Pier-2 Art Center to exchange for dragon and tiger couple cups, enjoy some SunnyHills pineapple cakes, see the Christmas trees at Warehouse No. 2 and the Pop Music Center, and explore the entire Pier-2 area (you can take the light rail; most street parking on Gongyuan Road is metered from Monday to Thursday). Finally, take a gondola ride along the Love River. If you still have energy, you can visit Central Park to see the Christmas tree. Driving is more convenient for the Chess Cake Cultural Center and Li Porcelain Art Museum, as taking the MRT might be a bit more complicated. However, a single ticket to the Li Porcelain Art Museum alone costs $350, so the Kaohsiung Fun Pass, which is currently buy-one-get-one-free for $780, is a very cost-effective option.
