We had a great long day at the Summer Palace. we got in just at 12pm and did not leave until around 7:30pm. The place is HUGE and is beautiful. This is my 2nd time visiting, first time in 2017 and did not explore much at all but was able to take it all in this time. Our tickets did not include the boat ride, we had to purchase separately but it was well worth it, saved us a lot of walking and was able to see the scenery from the lake. Our ticket allowed us entry to all the different sites which was an excellent purchase. Purchase was quick and ticket redemption was a breeze with just a QR code. One QR code for the whole group which was very convenient so we didn't have to scan each member individually. They also didn't have to inspect passports. Excellent deal, would definitely purchase again from Klook.
The Summer Palace was even more amazing than I expected! The place is absolutely huge and incredibly beautiful. Our guide, Wendi, was fantastic and made the experience even more enjoyable. We also took a boat ride, and it was definitely worth it—it gave us a wonderful view of the palace and its surroundings. I was absolutely knackered by the end, but it was worth every step to visit such a beautiful and historic place.
The Summer Palace was very cold and rainy when I went, with thick fog obscuring the view, but it was beautiful in its own way, so it was acceptable. When I bought tickets on Klook, the price was double that at the entrance. I don't know why. Perhaps the tickets at the entrance only covered basic access and not all zones, but the Klook tickets allowed access to all zones. However, I couldn't explore everything because there were many people, it was cold, and it was raining. Still, I was impressed! The high-angle views were stunning.
I would suggest spending a whole day there, as the area is larger than the Forbidden City, especially if you enjoy gardens and boat rides. There's a 100-step temple where you can see the Thousand-Hand Guanyin statue. The view from up there is also spectacular and breathtaking. However, do not eat at the dessert shop "The Palace Story" along the Long Corridor, as it is expensive and the food portions are small. A further 200m walk will lead you to many food stalls offering more interesting and varied options, such as Peking Duck Roll/Wrap, Zhajiangmian (fried sauce noodles), Shaobing (sesame flatbread), and more.
The Summer Palace was beautiful! Our tour guide Wendy was very fluent in English, and she was very friendly! A very sweet lady indeed. She has a lot of information to share about the Summer Palace, and she knows a lot of less crowded spots to take pictures. She can definitely set you up with a nice background. We highly recommend her, and don’t be shy to exchange your travel stories with her too!
Visiting the Summer Palace was an absolutely beautiful and relaxing experience. The scenery is stunning, with peaceful lakes, elegant bridges, and traditional architecture everywhere you look. Walking around the palace grounds felt calming and enjoyable, especially with the fresh air and open space. The place is rich in history and culture, and every corner feels photo-worthy. It’s perfect for sightseeing, slow walks, and appreciating Beijing’s imperial past. Overall, the Summer Palace is a must-visit attraction in Beijing. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys nature, history, and scenic views.
This is worth visiting on 3 grounds. 1 for its historical 2. architecture and 3. cultural signifucance. It is a small group tour and our guide was Richard who is effectively bilingual. He took time to explain the significance of both artefacts and the summer palace's architectural design. We like the explanation he gave on the hidden messages and significance of various artefacts and their cultural symbolism as well as their relevance to the forbidden palace's artefacts - this allowed us to understand both the cultural and power significance of the summer palace even more.
Thank you. The tour was very interesting and informative. Our tour guide, Joe, made sure we never felt bored by the history of the Summer Palace. It was a very smooth and well-organized tour. Thank you, Joe, for taking my family photo. Joe is very hardworking, funny, very helpful, and always made sure we were well taken care of until the end of the tour. I highly recommend Joe to anyone who wants to visit the Summer Palace, and I'm sure to recommend him to my friends and relatives from Hong Kong. The Summer Palace is very beautiful, and we also enjoyed the food inside. Thank you.
Initially, I thought I had only booked an entrance ticket and would have to explore the park by myself. However, when we arrived, Richard, our guide, was waiting for us with the tickets. And that was fantastic! He guided us through the park, showed us hidden gems, and shared interesting facts and stories about the park. He is an excellent guide! I still remember the facts and stories he told us!
