If you come to Iceland, besides the Northern Lights tour, this would be my top recommended itinerary. It's truly worth spending a day trying it. Our guide, Jay, was extremely professional. In addition to hiking, he taught us how to climb and rappel on the glacier using ropes and ice axes! I brought my mother, who is almost 60, and he professionally designed different routes and methods for us to experience climbing in various ways. On this tour, the guide will do their best to take you to the highest accessible point of the day, allowing you to admire the glacier from different perspectives!
Definitely the most worthwhile trip in Iceland, besides the Northern Lights. 1. Let's start with the only drawback: the check-in location is a bit incorrect. There are 4 small cabins on site, next to a campsite, making it easy to get lost. The correct check-in coordinates are 64.016131, -16.968153. 2. Remember to pay for parking. Now for all the advantages: 3. You can rent waterproof hiking boots on-site for 1500 ISK. They are clean and comfortable, so renting is definitely a good option. 4. They strictly adhere to standard safety mountaineering procedures. One guide leads the way, and another brings up the rear. This is strictly enforced almost from start to finish, so you never have to worry about falling behind. 5. The package includes: helmet, climbing harness, and crampons. 6. Along the way, it also included: 1 ice cave, 2 glacier crevasses, and 1 small vertical ice cave exploration with a climbing rope (the climbing rope was super heavy!). 7. Throughout the trip, they explained various geological formations and cracked jokes, making it a very relaxed journey. 8. We truly climbed until we couldn't go any further on the glacier (due to many cracks) before turning back. You are literally in the glacier! 9. The glacier is truly blue! 10. There's a gas station and an affordable restaurant near the camp, so you can resupply before leaving. This trip is absolutely worth recommending. When you come to Iceland, you must set aside a day to hike a glacier, and climbing for a longer time is truly beautiful!!!!
we joined the 5 hr glacier hike with around 3.5 hr walking on the ice. beautiful, not difficult. the guide is knowledgeable. however, we waited for the transfer bus for more than 30min, which the company should improve the transfer service
The guide was witty and humorous, and their professional skills were also excellent! A family member accidentally slipped, and the guide reacted quickly and handled the situation appropriately afterwards.
Our guide Josh was very entertaining, and we had an excellent experience. We saw small waterfalls on the glacier and crevasses. It was truly worth the price, as we walked for almost five hours.
Our guide Sara was kind and professional, and her explanations were easy to understand yet insightful. It was a great experience. After getting geared up, we took a car to the destination, then walked for about 25 minutes to the glacier before putting on our crampons and starting the hike.
Safety measures are thorough before the trip; we will confirm the safety of clothing and equipment one by one. Please wear sturdy, thick-soled hiking boots, or rent them on-site. The guide is professional and attentive, not only sharing detailed knowledge about glaciers but also constantly checking on everyone's feelings and health, making us feel very secure during the ice climbing process. If you're not up to the physical challenge, there are also shorter experience tours available, which we highly recommend not missing!
You can actually walk on the glacier and get very close to it. The instructor will also teach you walking techniques. It's a great experience and well worth a visit!
A fantastic experience, being able to walk safely on the snowy mountains with crampons. Special commendation goes to our guide Mike for his professionalism and thoughtful leadership, taking us deep into the glacier, allowing us to explore it safely. He also provided professional and detailed explanations of various aspects of natural glacier knowledge, which was truly eye-opening.
我們這次的嚮導Ania非常優秀,是個很棒的體驗 。報名5.5小時的行程,實際健行時間為3.5小時 。記得要帶食物喔!半途會有時間停下休息、補充食物 。
