We had such a fun time at the mochi-making class! It was hands-on, easy to follow, and perfect for our family. The instructor was warm and welcoming, and the mochi turned out absolutely delicious. A sweet and memorable experience!
My son and I loved this class. Muyuki was a great teacher, and we learned a lot about the meaning of seasonal Japanese sweets as well as how to make some of them. We also learned about the traditional tea ceremony and mixed our own matcha to follow eating our sweets. I would highly recommend this class. It was enjoyable and a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle. The photos are of the mochi and other sweets that we actually made during the class, including a plum blossom flower and a winter rabbit. Muyuki has a special table for photographing your creations at the end. If you don’t eat them, you can take them home!
I participated in a mochi-making experience class in Tokyo this time, which gave me a deeper understanding of traditional Japanese desserts and left me with unforgettable memories. The class was held in a classroom full of Japanese charm, with a clean and comfortable environment. The teacher was kind and meticulous, and there was no need to worry even if you didn't speak Japanese, as simple English explanations were provided. From pounding the mochi, kneading, filling, to the final decoration, every step was very therapeutic. The strawberry daifuku I made by hand had a chewy skin, paired with red bean paste and fresh strawberries, it was sweet but not cloying, truly surprisingly delicious. This class was not just about making desserts; it was more like a cultural experience, from which I felt the Japanese emphasis on detail and aesthetics. If I have the opportunity in the future, I would like to participate in other Japanese confectionery classes, and I highly recommend it to friends who enjoy hands-on activities and want to experience local culture in depth!
My brother and I booked this and the experience exceeded our expectations. Before making the mochi, we were given a mini lesson on mochi and a bit of history on the different kinds of mochis we would make. Our host Michiko was super socialable, funny and we had lots of good conversation during our time there. I would 100% recommend for others to give this experience a try! (And of course, the mochi was delicious!)
What an amazing experience. Organisers are so friendly and welcoming. Would 10000% recommend this if you're visiting Japan!! 🙂↕️🤌🏻
Such a lovely experience! We were taught the cultural significance of mochi and, of course, making our own. Our instructor was so sweet and knowledgeable. Will definitely book again in the future!
Such a fun and immersive class! Hatsumi was so friendly and made us laugh. We learned the rich history of mochi and got to make/eat so many types. If you want to understand Japanese food culture, you have to take this class!
We made five mochi—including strawberry daifuku, dango, and warabi—and everything was delicious! Our instructor, Ayumi, was incredibly helpful and friendly, making the experience both enjoyable and easy to follow. She also provided a recipe so we can recreate everything at home. Highly recommend this activity while in Tokyo.
