It was a great hotel but very close to kiyomizudera temple which causes the area to be really busy and hard to get around. Just something to keep in mind.

FantasticStayed with friends
A nice little hotel near to Gion. It's within walking distance of many things, such as temples, shopping, and restaurants. Like much of the rest of old Kyoto, the streets can be cramped and confusing, but the hotel has a helpful map with local destinations. The staff speak enough English to help with local tourism.
Rooms are clean and I appreciate how cold the AC goes, (16° C!!). The shower was a little cramped with poor water pressure, but not to a problematic extent.
Free drinks in the lobby are appreciated too. A souvenir water bottle in lieu of traditional water bottles in the room was also very nice. A good hotel for small groups or couples.

FantasticStayed with kids
This was the most inexpensive hotel of our trip and yet we loved it. Close to Kiyomizu temple and Gion district. They were very helpful and friendly. Gave us a free water bottle each, and a beautiful cookie at check out. Had all the amenities you needed, brush, razor, toothbrush, creams and face wash as well as extra pillows if you need. They have laundry on site as well as a rooftop terrace. Would definitely stay here again!!

FantasticSolo stay
The best part of this hotel is the staff. Very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed sitting in the front seating area that had tables, refreshments, and manga to read. It was a nice place to sit and have dinner when the rain kept us from walking around one evening. The hotel had plenty of common areas for you to enjoy in case you wanted to get away from your room. Location was great, a short walk up the hill to Kiyomizu-Dera, a kimono shop around the corner, and a dumpling restaurant right next door.

GoodStayed with partner
The location was the only thing that helps this hotel , walkable distance to the water temple and the streets of Gion, the incline is a bit steep but doable just take your time. The hotel was not very clean, had to do my usual wipe test and got a lot of dirt and stains with my wipes. You have to ask for extra pillows because they give you a baby crib pillow by default. The bathrooms are very small and feel like porta potties because of how detached they feel from the rest of the room. The beds were stiff and were the size of children’s beds which make sense with the pillows provided. Out of the multiple hotels on this trip this one was the weakest of the bunch.

Small hotel close to one of the most important temples . Quiet area with large rooms (for Japan) nice roof terrace to watch sun go down. No dining option on site but plenty within walking distance
