Kyoto Kimono Rental - Traditional Kimono Experience & Japanese Makeup & Photography Service (Provided by Okimono-ya Kiyomizu Store)

We were the first guests to arrive for our 9:30 AM reservation, but we got to the shop at 9:20 AM. The ladies at the front desk were incredibly kind and spoke Chinese. Since we arrived early, we were able to start choosing our kimonos and sashes right away, and then head upstairs for styling. The Japanese stylists on the second floor who helped with dressing, makeup, and hair were also very friendly. The kimonos available were all super beautiful, with various fabrics, making it so hard to choose! The lady on the first floor also helped us pair the perfect sash and accessories, and her aesthetic sense was spot on. (Plus, the stylist on the second floor was super fast; my hair was done in no time!) Overall, it was quick and professional, and the experience was excellent. If we ever come back to Kiyomizu-dera, we'll definitely visit again!

Absolutely loved my experience with the whole team! Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout the entire process. There were so many beautiful kimonos to choose from, and the staff did a wonderful job helping me pick one that suited me. The dressing and hair styling were also done so nicely and efficiently, and I never felt rushed. The whole experience was smooth, fun, and honestly one of the highlights of my trip. You can really tell that the staff care about making their customers feel beautiful and comfortable. I would definitely rent from them again on my next trip to Kyoto. 🥰🥰🥰

I just came here yesterday, and to say the service was great is an understatement. The front employees are very well versed in English which makes the process of choosing the kimono very simple, and they are really friendly and made me feel very welcomed. I also want to give props to the ladies upstairs who help you change into the kimono. Despite the language barrier and my minuscule understanding of Japanese, I could tell they made an effort to make you feel very pretty and compliment you as well :) Thank you for much for the amazing experience Okimono and I look forward to coming back again in the future!

Kimono rental turned out to be a perfect experience that made my day and left me with wonderful memories. staff was friendly and helpful from beginning to end. After being greeted and confirming reservation, I was handed a bag to use as I picked out my kimono and accessories. There was staff at each step to help match colors and make sure I got all the items needed. After selecting all my pieces it was upstairs to change and get hair done. I’ve never had someone help me change into such a complicated outfit so quickly, but it happened here. And my hair look beautiful and refined despite it taking the stylist only 15 minute to do. Overall look ended up beyond my expectations. Advice: choose the earliest time slot you can. streets start getting crowded by 10/10:30ish making taking photos and walking hard. If you’re body shy wear shorts and sports bra or tank top you can wear under the kimono; there are no private dressing rooms. Go with premium: you get extra options for the accessories that are worth it.

The hair style is very beautiful, there are many kimono styles to choose from, and the overall combination is very satisfying👍. Thanks to the staff here for their kind service. The weather is a bit too hot this time, so you should choose a yukata + clogs, otherwise you may get a bit of a heat stroke while wearing a kimono🥵.

Choosing to wear a kimono in the scorching August heat definitely requires some determination 😂. There were yukata options available, but the yukata styles weren't as appealing as the kimonos. My friend and I debated for a while, and after seeing other customers who came in also choosing kimonos, we finally decided on a kimono 👘! I opted for the upgraded hairstyle add-on, and it turned out beautifully! It was genuinely hot, around 36-37 degrees Celsius that day… wearing a kimono outdoors from 10 AM to 5 PM, but it was totally worth it!

10 out of 10, I definitely recommend. The ladies did everything great, from kimono selection, to the belts, to the hair styles, accessories, the and technique to get you in the Kimono!!?? they were truly professionals. I loved my Kimono, got sooo many compliments. I will definitely come back when visiting Kyoto again!!

Wonderful experience! I booked my appointment the day before for the next day, and everything went perfectly. I was able to choose the yukata I wanted: it was beautiful, and I was really happy with the result. The ladies were very kind and attentive during the dressing process. With my hair type, it was difficult to create a hairstyle, but they were thoughtful enough to put a pretty barrette in my hair to stay in theme. The sandals they lent me were a little slippery, but they gave me great advice: I kept my sneakers on for walking and only wore the sandals for the photos. I highly recommend this experience!
