You can exchange your tickets directly outside the High-Speed Rail station, which is very efficient! Buses depart every 30 minutes, so even if you miss one, you won't have to wait long. I highly recommend it for trips to Xiaoliuqiu or Kenting!

You can easily travel from Zuoying Station to the harbor for Xiaoliuqiu. It's slightly cheaper to book and pay online than to top up an EasyCard and take the bus. Since my itinerary only included Xiaoliuqiu and no other places in Kaohsiung, it was a convenient option.

First, even after buying tickets online, we still had to exchange them for paper tickets at the high-speed rail station exit, which made booking online beforehand pointless. During the long holiday weekend, it took almost an hour just to queue at the ticket counter, and the earliest available train was three hours later. The main issue was that when we first arrived at the counter, we asked about the earliest train, and the clerk told us to scan a QR code before she could tell us. After scanning, she said the earliest was at 3:30 PM. I said, “Then never mind, I want to cancel my booking.” She replied that the tickets had already been issued and couldn't be canceled, telling us to queue for standby to see if there were any seats. If that's not forced consumption, what is? What's even more ridiculous is that when we exchanged our tickets, we clearly stated that we wanted to board and alight at Dongliu Line Pier Station for both the outbound and return journeys. However, when we arrived at the bus stop for our return trip before the departure time, the station attendant there said our tickets were for boarding at Donggang Transfer Station??? She told us to call customer service ourselves. It turned out there were five other passengers in the same situation as us. Three had paper tickets, and two had e-tickets, all inexplicably changed to board at Donggang Transfer Station. Because there were so many people with issues, the attendant eventually contacted the company on our behalf, and we were able to take the next bus. I can only say that the ticketing staff's issues this time were significant. They issued tickets without informing us of the schedule, forcing consumption, and then arbitrarily changed our return boarding location. I truly don't understand why, in 2026, it's still not possible to reserve seats when booking tickets online. The experience was very poor; domestic travel transportation still needs significant improvement.
