Fantastic 5.0
Today's weather was quite cloudy, but our female tour guide and driver worked very hard, observing the clouds to find a suitable spot for aurora viewing. In the last hour before we had to leave, we finally saw the aurora, which was incredibly lucky. I'm very grateful to her for driving us around to find the best viewing spots and for helping us take beautiful photos. 🥰

Fantastic 5.0
Our 4-day, 3-night trip was excellent overall. I was a bit worried at first, but upon arrival at the airport, a tour guide met us. On the way to the hotel, we saw the Northern Lights, and the guide immediately helped us chase them and take photos. Due to limited room availability, we couldn't stay in the same hotel for all three nights. The guide assisted us with the hotel transfer and arranged for us to tour the city with explanations. For the three nights of aurora chasing, on the second night, we were arranged to wait for the Northern Lights in a house, or we could choose to wait in a tent. On the third night, we waited in the car. Hot tea and water were also provided.

Fantastic 5.0
I am Korean and went on a tour with Chinese tourists. The Chinese male guide was very kind. However, a snowmobile driven by another Chinese tourist went off the road and into the mountains ^^. The guide worked very hard because of that tourist. I got to ride the snowmobile for a long time. Thank you for creating unforgettable memories.

What to know before visiting Yellowknife

Top experiences and seasonal rhythm

Yellowknife’s most-booked activities are cultural experiences, followed by outdoor & sports activities and guided tours. Demand climbs through late summer to a clear peak in September, while bookings dip heavily around May, so plan around that seasonal swing when choosing experiences.

Best activities for families, couples and solo travellers

Families will find cultural experiences particularly accessible — these tend to be the most affordable and suit mixed-age groups. Couples often enjoy the outdoor & sports activities for scenery and shared adventure, with options that feel more intimate. Solo travellers and small groups can pick from the wider range of tours for structured itineraries and opportunities to meet others.

What travellers from Singapore usually book ahead

Most travellers from Singapore treat Yellowknife as a medium-term plan: bookings typically land around three weeks before travel, though the earliest planners reserve closer to six weeks ahead. Booking ahead matters most in September, the busiest month, when popular activities can fill up.

Comparing categories: price and who they suit

Cultural experiences are the easiest entry point, generally the cheapest median price and good for budget-conscious visitors and families. Outdoor & sports activities sit in the mid-range and suit travellers after scenery and active days. Tours are the priciest on median and offer the widest spread of options — from standard guided trips to premium experiences — making them appealing to travellers who want more structure or are willing to pay for specialist offerings.
