Also known as the Crow Castle due to its striking black exterior, it is one of the few original Japanese castles that have survived since the Edo Period. When you visit this national treasure Matsumoto Castle, you can explore the castle grounds, which have a castle moat and beautiful cherry trees that bloom in spring. Inside, you'll find the Japanese castle interior with steep staircases, wooden hallways, and displays of medieval weaponry. The castle tower also offers a top-floor observation platform with stunning views of the Japanese Alps and the surrounding mountains. This is my first time using the JR Hokuriku Arch Rail Pass. I traveled from Tokyo to Osaka, passing through Toyama, Shin-Takaoka, Kanazawa, and Fukui. It was very useful and I will recommend it to my friends.

It is about 15 minutes from Matsumoto Station. It is within walking distance. We toured inside Matsumoto Castle. There were some steep stairs along the way, so be careful. You can get a panoramic view of Matsumoto city from the castle tower. I enjoyed it while thinking about the history of the past.

This time I used my mobile phone to buy an electronic ticket on Klook, which was very convenient! There was almost no need to wait, and I bought and used it immediately. Matsumoto Castle separated physical tickets and electronic tickets into different channels, which was clear. Like it 👍
