Fantastic 5.0
Booked the Viva Old Manila Walking Tour through Klook and had a great experience. Our guide, Russell, was incredibly knowledgeable and informative, sharing fascinating stories and historical insights throughout the tour. We visited 8 stops around Intramuros, and each location came with its own unique history and significance. What I appreciated most was how Russell connected the stories to present-day Manila, making the tour both engaging and educational. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Manila and wanting to gain a deeper understanding of the city's rich history and culture.

Excellent tour! Our guide, Christian, was extremely passionate about the history of Intramuros and shared us many stories. She took very good care of us and one of the best tour guides we ever had! We covered all the historical sites and there was even a support assistant to help with the traffic. The tour included a drink midway, ice cream and cold towel at the end, so well thought out! Highly recommended!

Fantastic 5.0
I had an amazing experience on the tour, thanks to our guide, Prime. He was incredibly enthusiastic & explained the history of Manila in a way that was quick, clear, and easy to understand. You can really tell he’s passionate about what he does. What stood out even more was how humble & attentive he was, he kept checking in on everyone throughout the tour, which made the whole experience feel very personal and comfortable. Such a thoughtful and sweet guide. The tour was also very well taken care of they provided umbrellas, hand fans, & cold towels, which made a big difference in the heat and showed how considerate they are.The food was a huge highlight too! We enjoyed a variety of local treats, including a Filipino breakfast, dried mango snacks, a refreshing mango shake, a yummy lunch eaten together, street food, and even ice cream. Everything was delicious and really added to the experience. It was super worth it. Highly recommend this tour, especially if you get Prime as your guide!

Fantastic 5.0
The journey is long but the scenery is beautiful, making it perfect for those with time to spare. There are many activities, but before you go, be sure to confirm the departure time and pickup location with the driver. I had scheduled for around 9 AM, but the driver hadn't properly confirmed the order, so I was picked up an hour and a half late. However, the driver was very skilled, so we still managed to arrive without too much delay.

What to know before visiting Manila

Manila Travel Guide

The capital of the Philippines: history, food, culture, and the gateway to Luzon’s best day trips.

Set on the eastern shore of Manila Bay in the heart of Metropolitan Manila, Manila is the capital city of the Philippines and the historic center of the country. Often described as a city of contrasts, Manila blends centuries of history with modern Manila’s skyline, cultural districts, creative neighborhoods, and a fast-paced lifestyle. As the seat of the city government and a key part of the National Capital Region, it is both a living museum of the country’s past and the starting point for countless adventures across Luzon and other islands.

Why Visit Manila

Manila is one of Southeast Asia’s most historically layered cities. Its historic walled city, Intramuros, preserves the Spanish colonial heart of the capital, where Fort Santiago, San Agustin Church, and the Manila Cathedral stand as enduring symbols of Philippine history. Many of the city’s landmarks reflect centuries of Spanish rule, later influences from World War II, and architectural styles reflect American planning, creating a rare blend of eras within a single urban landscape.

As the cultural capital of the country, Manila is home to major museums, performance spaces, universities, and historic churches. Institutions such as the National Museum Complex showcase fine arts, anthropology, and natural history, making the city a center for education, art, and heritage. At the same time, neighborhoods like San Miguel, Santa Cruz, Santa Ana, and San Juan preserve community traditions, religious landmarks, and local identity.

Food lovers visit Manila for its diversity: from Chinese-Filipino cuisine in the oldest Chinatown to local markets, street food, and innovative restaurants in Makati and Bonifacio Global City. Manila is also the gateway to Luzon, offering easy access to Tagaytay, Taal Volcano, Pagsanjan Falls, Bataan, Subic, and Batangas. Whether you are interested in history, food, art, or planning unforgettable day trips, visiting Manila offers so much fun for families, couples, and fellow travelers alike.
