Transport in Okayama

Amanohashidate and Ine day tour was the highlight of my Osaka trip, and using the JR pass in almost all of my train rides in Osaka and the neighboring areas of Kobe and Kyoto was very maximized. I even got to ride the Shinkansen to Himeji using the JR pass.

The JR Pass is excellent value! We only waited about 5 minutes in line at the Kansai Airport counter, and the staff immediately helped us reserve seats on the Haruka train. From queuing to boarding, it took just 15 minutes in total. It's fantastic to have unlimited rides on the Hello Kitty Shinkansen and trips to Hiroshima included. For a 5-day pass focused on the Kansai area, it offers extremely high value. The only downside is that it doesn't cover Nozomi or Mizuho Shinkansen services between Kyoto and Osaka/Shin-Osaka. However, the Thunderbird limited express train that operates on the same route is also very comfortable and pleasant."

price: cheaper than buying onsite. Redemption process was easy. I redeemed my tickets at Hakata Station. Redemption guide was clear & comprehensive. Seat reservation process pretty easy. English language was available for selection from the menu of the machine/kiosk. Two steps. You would need to redeem the shinkansen tickets prior to making a seat reservation.

Claiming of ticket was easy. Just scan the qr code at ticket machine at the station. was able to use the ticket anytime all throughout my 7 days super worth it. thank you!

I used the "JR PASS Okayama Hiroshima Yamaguchi" this time. On the first day, I received the PASS at Okayama Station and immediately reserved a seat on the Shinkansen to Hiroshima with extra-large baggage space. I arrived in Hiroshima very quickly. On the second day, I traveled to and from Hakata and got to try the square Ichiran Ramen. On the third day, I took a ferry to Miyajima. On the third and fourth days, I used the PASS to ride the Hiroshima sightseeing bus, enjoying various tourist attractions in Hiroshima. On the fourth day, I took a reserved seat on the Shinkansen back to Okayama. On the fifth day, I went to Kurashiki. This pass saved me a lot of transportation costs, so I highly recommend purchasing it 👍

Highly recommend purchasing this pass for unlimited rides on JR trains and the Shinkansen. I exchanged for mine using a machine in Hiroshima. With this pass, I took trains between Hiroshima, Okayama, Onomichi, Kurashiki, Himeji, Osaka, Kobe, and Takamatsu. I also used the JR ferry to go to Miyajima and Shodoshima. In Okayama, you can ride the streetcar. In the Shikoku area, the ticket vending machines and automatic gates cannot read this pass, so you must go to the counter for manual processing when reserving a reserved seat.

This rail pass was extremely convenient and great value for money. It made traveling around Kyushu, Hiroshima (even Miyajima Island), Kyoto and nearby regions very easy, with unlimited rides on JR trains. Redemption was smooth, and the pass helped save both time and transportation costs. Highly recommended for anyone doing multi-city travel in Japan.

Slightly cheaper than buying directly on JR West offices. This pass covers going to Tottori and even Matsue, Izumo, Kurashiki, Okayama. Definitely worth it if you plan to travel far away and uses lots of limited express trains or even the shinkansen
