Heads up: The EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary on Thursday, Feb. 25 stays a special working day, so it’s a normal workday for you. Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha don’t have dates yet. They follow the Islamic lunar calendar, so Malacañang will announce them separately once the approximate dates are set.
Long weekends 2027 Philippines: 7 breaks worth planning around

These are the breaks that matter, in date order. Each one comes with a trip idea so you can book with a plan in mind.
New Year’s weekend: Jan. 1 to 3
A Friday holiday gives you three days off without filing a single leave. Most wallets are still recovering from December, so keep this one close to home. A Manila staycation with a pool and a late checkout does the job, and you skip the airfare completely.
Fares to Japan, Korea and Hong Kong tend to climb around New Year. Only go if you already caught a seat sale.
Holy Week 2027: Mar. 25 to 28
Holy Week 2027 gives you four days off, Maundy Thursday (Mar. 25) to Easter Sunday (Mar. 28). Thursday and Friday are regular holidays, and Black Saturday on Mar. 27 is a special non-working day, so most offices shut for the whole stretch. It’s also one of the busiest travel weeks of the year, so beaches and boats fill up early.
Boracay is the classic Holy Week pick. You can book the Boracay island hopping adventure ahead so you’re not hunting for a boat on the beach. If you want a short flight abroad instead, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong all work for four days, though fares jump this week. File Mar. 22 to 24 and this break becomes nine days (more on that in the leave hacks below).

Araw ng Kagitingan: Apr. 9 to 11
Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) falls on a Friday, so Apr. 9 to 11 is a clean three-day weekend. April is already hot in Manila, which makes Baguio’s cooler air an easy sell.
Start at Mines View Park for the view over the Cordillera hills, then work through the rest of the city at your own pace. If you’d rather not drive, the Baguio day tour from Manila starts in the city, so someone else handles the road. The trade-off is traffic, so expect slow roads on the way up and the way back. Hong Kong also fits a three-day weekend if you’d rather fly.
National Heroes Day: Aug. 28 to 30
National Heroes Day lands on Monday, Aug. 30, so you get a three-day weekend with no leave needed. Late August is typhoon season, so keep your plans flexible and book refundable options where you can.
Short trip abroad? Hong Kong is roughly two hours by air, and Korea or Japan about four. They have typhoon season too, so check the forecast before you commit. Staying local? A Manila weekend with indoor plans beats a beach trip in rainy weather.
Undas 2027: Oct. 30 to Nov. 2
Undas 2027 stretches to four days because Nov. 2 is an extra special non-working day on top of All Saints’ Day. Undas (the tradition of visiting loved ones’ graves on All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day) fills the roads out of Manila with families heading to the provinces. Decide early whether you’re joining that traffic or flying out instead.
Heading out with your barkada (group of friends)? Siargao is the usual pick for a four-day trip. A private Siargao tri-island hopping tour suits a group because you split one cost and set your own pace. Korea is the short-haul alternative, since autumn colors usually peak around late October into early November.
Christmas break 2027: Dec. 24 to 26
Christmas Eve lands on Friday and Christmas Day on Saturday, so Christmas break 2027 is a straight three-day weekend. Christmas on a Saturday means no bonus day, so it works best as a quick trip close to home.
Palawan’s dry season suits it, and the El Nido island hopping tour covers the lagoons and beaches in one day.

Rizal Day into New Year: Dec. 30 to Jan. 2
Rizal Day (Thursday, Dec. 30) and the Dec. 31 special non-working day roll straight into the weekend, which gives you four days off. The holiday remembers José Rizal, who was held at Fort Santiago in Intramuros before his execution on Dec. 30, 1896.
The Intramuros walking tour gives the day some meaning, and it works even if you’re staying in the city. Japan is popular over this stretch because it’s in the middle of its own New Year holidays. Expect higher fares and crowded sights if you go.
Leave hacks for 2027
- Bonifacio Day is Tuesday, Nov. 30. File one leave on Monday, Nov. 29 and you get four days off in a row, Saturday to Tuesday.
- The bigger wins are in March and December. File Mar. 22 to 24 and Holy Week turns into nine days off, Mar. 20 to 28. File Dec. 27 to 29 and Christmas, Rizal Day and New Year link up for ten days off, Dec. 24 to Jan. 2. That’s three leave days each for the two biggest travel stretches of the year.
- Labor Day (May 1), Independence Day (June 12) and Ninoy Aquino Day (Aug. 21) all land on Saturdays, so none of them adds a day off. Chinese New Year 2027 Philippines is the same story, since Feb. 6 is a Saturday.
- Holiday fares and rooms usually fill months ahead, so set a ₱ budget now and check airline promos early, starting with the nine- and ten-day stretches. Three leave days for ten days off is hard to beat.

Book your seats months ahead for Holy Week 2027 and Undas 2027. Those two weekends are when flights, buses and boats fill first, so lock in your flights and stay before anything else.
