    The Chocolate Hills are the name given to the 1,268 conical hills found in Bohol, Philippines. The term "chocolate hills" was coined because of the brown color of the grass coverings on the hills. The geological formation of the mountains are believed to be products of continuous erosion, a tectonic uplift that began about three million years ago.

    The Chocolate Hills of Bohol is a beautiful sight to behold. Located atop the mountains in the towns of Carmen and Sagbayan, the tourist attraction is at the northern extremity of the province of Bohol. It covers ten square kilometers, with a total area of 726 hectares. It's one of the most visited attractions in the Philippines. It attracts more than one million tourists each year.
    It's typical for tourists to climb the hills, among them the 2km-long Three Sisters Hill, which is accessible for public ascent. There are also other outdoor recreational activities such as horseback riding, cycling, ATV riding, caving, and hiking. The area is home to rare birds such as the black cockatoo, the scarlet macaw, and the helmeted hornbill, so keep your eyes peeled while you're enjoying the surrounding nature.

    The Chocolate Hills are located near the city of Dauis in Bohol. You can get there via Tagbilaran.
    By plane
    Most people travel to Bohol from Manila by plane. Tagbilaran Airport (IATA: TGB) is the island's main airport.
    By bus
    If you're traveling by bus, you must take a bus from Manila that stops at Dauis. There are buses that stop at the Bohol Bee Farm, another popular attraction in Bohol. In Dauis you can buy a tricycle to take you to the Chocolate Hills.
    By car
    Tagbilaran can be reached from Manila by car. Driving from Manila will take about 2 1/2 hours.
    By ferry
    You can take a ferry to Tagbilaran from Cebu
