It was really a hidden gem on the way from Karuizawa to Tokyo. Such a well organized safari with a good variety of animals presented in great condition. A couple hours gone by quickly without a single dull moment. Also great value for money.

I went on September 21st. It was sunny for the first time after four consecutive holidays, so I arrived at the park just at 9:30, but the parking lot was already congested. I arrived at the parking lot around 10 o'clock and went to the ticket sales window, but the ranger tour ticket I was looking for was already sold out. When I lined up to buy a ticket for the feeding bus, the person in charge said, "There is a high possibility that it will be sold out while it is lined up." (Actually sold out around 10:30) Weeping, we lined up in the safari bus ticket purchase line. I was able to purchase a ticket around 10:40, but the number of passengers was limited to prevent corona infection, so at this point the bus departed at 11:30. For about an hour, I took a tour of the amusement park and an early lunch to kill time. If you are buying a bus ticket, we recommend that you arrive early and line up at the ticket office. Since the safari bus takes a different route from the private car route, there was less traffic in the park and we were able to tour without stress. In addition, the driver's commentary was easy to understand even for children and was well received. For efficient tours, we recommend using the bus rather than your own car. I left the parking lot around 1:30, but can all of them enter the park by the closing time with a string of private cars? I was worried. When I bought a safari bus ticket, I received a half-price discount ticket from the Tomioka Silk Mill, so I visited it. We also recommend a tour of the manufacturing plant and a tasting buffet at Konnyaku Park (both free of charge). Tochira is also about 5km from the safari park.
