The experience was fun for the whole family. It wasn't too difficult to shave the wood, even for my 8 yr old. We chose Sugi, Walnut, Sakura, and Purple Heart. Victor K. was very helpful, professional, and patient. He provided clear instructions and helpful hints to make the beautiful chopsticks. You can tell he truly enjoys the craft of making chopsticks. The personalized engraving was a fun extra we all loved.
We had a wonderful experience here. Georgia was our instructor and she was very patient and friendly. We made our own chopsticks, had them engraved and look forward to using them. I highly recommend trying this place out as it’s near some good tourist spots and not expensive too. I’ll be back again for sure. กิจกรรม:
No Sticks, no food! ⸻ An absolutely wonderful chopstick-making workshop in Kyoto! From the moment we arrived, everything was calm, welcoming, and beautifully well-explained. Ryu Kai Soku are outstanding instructors: patient, attentive, and genuinely passionate about their craft. Their guidance is clear and precise, yet always delivered with warmth and good humor. They manage the rare balance of sharing deep traditional know-how while making the experience accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Working with the wood, learning the gestures, and understanding the philosophy behind such a simple yet meaningful object was a real privilege. You don’t just leave with chopsticks — you leave with a story, a skill, and a deep respect for Japanese craftsmanship. Thank you for this memorable experience. Wishing Ryu Kai Soku all the very best for the future — may your workshop continue to inspire many hands and many hearts. Elaine and Arnaud
We had a great time making an awesome souvenir to remember our trip to Kyoto. Keshavi was our instructor and she was great - friendly, patient, and helpful. The shop is quaint and charming and the finished chopsticks look so good. My 17 and 21 year old kids had a blast and so did Dad. A great value and highly recommended!
Such a great experience! Our instructor Chi was very helpful. Making the Chopsticks was very straightforward, however the pursuit of perfection is an endless journey. I could have easily sat here for hours sanding to perfection without feeling bored. Definitely a must book experience in Kyoto.
Liz was a fantastic help. She guided me through the process, helping me engrave my kids names on the chopsticks in Japanese. I had a great experience and would highly recommend. I upgraded my species of wood and engraved them which was an extra cost but there are several other varieties that were included. thanks
this is a must try for everyone its so nice especially August who taught us ☺️I really had a great time and it’s a great experience to try something cultural and indoors!!! 🥢🥢
We had a really fun time here in the chopsticks making workshop especially because I like building and our instructor, Tayzar, was very helpful in teaching us and guiding us and we learned a lot about the wood.
Very cool workshop! You immediately have a handmade souvenir, and the staff was super nice. We spontaneously wanted to do more, and they were very accommodating, which was no problem at all. Definitely recommend :)
We really enjoyed this unique experience — all thanks to the assistance of Taba!! ❤️ She is really nice and friendly, and we absolutely enjoyed our chats while making our chopsticks. Please don’t skip this activity when you’re in Kyoto. Totally worth it!!
