What to expect
About Arashiyama Monkey Park
- Interact with Monkeys: As you hike to the park, keep an eye out for monkeys along the way. Once you reach the summit, you can observe playful monkeys interacting with each other against a beautiful backdrop.
- Learn About Monkey Behavior: Guides share fascinating facts about the monkeys’ social structure and behavior, providing insights into their daily lives and habitats.
- Feeding Time: You can feed the monkeys from a safe location, providing a valuable opportunity for close observation. It’s also a great chance to take photos while respecting the monkeys’ space. From the park, you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the city of Kyoto, making it an ideal place to appreciate natural beauty.
- -About Arashiyama’s Famous Spots
- Togetsukyo Bridge: This bridge is called “Togetsukyo.” Long ago, when the Emperor was boating on this river, it is said that when he looked up at the bridge, he saw the moon crossing the bridge as the boat moved forward. Togetsukyo Bridge, which spans the gently flowing Oi River, has a simple and sturdy atmosphere and is truly spectacular.
- Tenryu-ji Temple: Tenryu-ji Temple is the head temple of the Rinzai sect in Arashiyama, Kyoto, and is famous for its beautiful gardens and ceiling paintings. In 1994, it was registered as a World Heritage Site along with Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Kinkaku-ji Temple, To-ji Temple, and Nijo Castle. This garden was the first designated historic site and special place of scenic beauty in the country and is a national treasure-class landscape, one of only 36 locations nationwide.
- Bamboo Forest Path: Kyoto’s recommended tourist spot, “Bamboo Forest Path.” It is a bamboo grove path that continues like a tunnel for about 400 meters. It flourished as a villa area for nobles during the Heian period, and there is no special entrance, and anyone can take a walk. Admission is free. The lush green bamboo forest throughout the year creates a mysterious atmosphere, making you feel as if you have wandered into another world.

Masa was an amazing guide! I would book with him again! He was very understanding and knowledgeable about the history of Kyoto and he explained everything with a lot of patience. The tour was very thorough and we learned a lot about Japan! I will be recommending to my friends who go to Japan.
Today, my wife and I toured with Miyake and had a wonderful time. He was very knowledgeable, kind, and patient. He provided us with a great amount of detail and history of each site without being overwhelming.a He took us all around the Monkey Park and was patient while I climbed the steps. We had an amazing day, and it would not have been as enjoyable or nice without Miyake's guidance. Thank you, and we highly recommend this trip. In addition, although we arrived 20 minutes Miyake was already waiting patiently waiting for us to arrive. As a result, he was happy to begin the tour early. He allowed us time to take as many pictures as we needed and kindly took some of us with our phone and his own phone which he later sent to us. Thank you. Once again, this was a wonderful trip which we highly recommend. So BEAUTIFUL!!

I highly recommend this tour. Masa-san was very nice and accommodating. Two friends and I decided to book this tour since we only had a short amount of time in Kyoto. We all really enjoyed it! We got to go through the hustle and bustle and be in nature! This tour felt like the best of both worlds. My friends really enjoyed the walk up to see the monkeys! Masa-san made it more enjoyable with his pop quizzes. There were so many things we got to learn from him! I really enjoyed walking around such a large temple and hearing about how the monks live. Getting to walk through the bamboo Grove was another highlight too. Genuinely a wonderful time!
I am so happy that I booked this tour with the very well informed Mr.Masa. He was a fantastic guide and is very knowledgeable, patient, and good sense of humor. The locations we visited were all so beautiful and rich with culture. The pacing and content worked perfectly by allowing enough time to enjoy the locations. If you are visiting Kyoto, please book with Masa! And most importantly, respect the culture and the people of this wonderful country <3
Masa was amazing! So knowledgeable and patient. I’m not a hiker and he made sure to take numerous breaks during our tour.
Our Tour was amazing. Masa was very kind and super sweet. He is very knowledgeable and explained all the sites and made it fun and interactive for us. Our family had an amazing time and we saw so many places in a very short time thanks to Masa. He was patiently waiting for us with our name sign at the train station when we got there so we don’t have to look for him. I definitely recommend this tour with Masa to anyone who visits Kyoto.
