What to expect
In Japan, tea ceremony is more than just drinking tea—it’s about experiencing the essence of beauty. While we often associate beauty with outward appearances, in the tea ceremony, we appreciate the inner beauty of nature, which leads us to the concept of "Wabi-sabi."
Wabi-sabi is a traditional Japanese aesthetic that finds beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and incompleteness, influenced by Zen Buddhism.
Our knowledgeable guides will lead you through Kyoto, sharing the philosophy and traditions of the tea ceremony, while letting you truly feel the essence of "Wabi-sabi." Join this tour to walk around the historical locations and experience an authentic tea ceremony with local experts!

Reviews
I really enjoyed this tour. It was probably one of the better things I did in Kyoto. I was the only one that booked the tour, so it was private. The guide was great! He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer my questions, even if he had to look up a couple of the more challenging ones. The zen Buddhist temples we visited were really interesting and the gardens were gorgeous! Afterwards, he dropped me off at the tea ceremony place. The host there was very nice and shared a lot of her knowledge of traditional tea ceremonies. I was supposed to be with another couple for that but they were late and missed most of it.
We took the wabi-sabi tour through Kyoto with Josh. He explained a lot to us, and it was really fun. The tour concluded with a tea ceremony that lasted about 30 minutes. Thanks for the interesting day.
Josh was a great guide . Took his time and di not rush. Even took us on s lighly longer route to show more of Kyoto
We had a wonderful half-day with our two local guides Hide and Woohee. We learned a lot about the Gion historical district and Japanese translations. The tea ceremony was a great way to end our day.
