Miyako Island Caving & Sea Kayak Half-Day Tour (Okinawa)

Pros: Loved our tour of the Pumpkin Cave. Jumping off the pumpkin into the water fun! Kayaking was nice. Cons: We could not take our camera and had to rely on the photos they took for us. Unfortunately their pictures aren't super great, some turned out ok, but most were grainy. It was crowded. Group after group went into the pumpkin cave.

Our guide, Takurou, was incredibly kind and took so many photos for us. Even though the sun was hot, he took about 30 pictures per team, which was really touching. This was my first time experiencing a cave tour like this, and it's on a completely different level from any other tour I've done. I highly recommend trying it while you're healthy; it's a memory I'll cherish for a lifetime! Highly recommended.

We saw that the next day was going to be sunny and decided to book this experience. Our group was led by Masutani Ryoma-san and Yuuri-san. They are amazing, super fun team and very knowledgeable. The entry to the pumpkin cave is a leisurely kayak. The cave itself was so amazing, and the guides shared so many interesting facts about this holy site. theres some climbing inside the cave, but we felt safe the whole time. it was such an enjoyable experience and we recommend anyone visiting Miyako to try it. Our guide, Fuka, was very professional, and communicating in English was absolutely no problem; her slight British accent was lovely to listen to. 😂 We participated in the half-day Pumpkin Cave + Canoe tour. For the evening, due to rough seas, yesterday's SUP tour was changed to today's Sunset SUP. There were 9 tourists in total for the Pumpkin Cave, and the water temperature felt like about 26 degrees Celsius. The inside was beautiful, and I heard it will be closed for maintenance soon. At the end, we jumped about 2 meters from the top of the pumpkin, which was fun. 😂 In the evening, thanks to Fuka's support, we were able to go on the tour. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been a group, just the two of us. We essentially had the whole area to ourselves and could paddle however we liked! 😍 Fuka took many great photos of us throughout the trip. She was very willing to chat but also gave us plenty of space. The most comfortable aspect was feeling safe while still having a great sense of freedom.

I was worried that the tour would only be in Japanese because I have three young children, but I was so glad that Ryoma did it in English. He even used the Korean he learned from Korean customers, which made the tour atmosphere even more enjoyable. Thank you so much for playing so well with my youngest son. I was lucky that it was the last cave tour, thank you.

It was truly a memorable experience! The cave was amazing, and the activities were thrilling and fun. There wasn't a Korean guide, but I really wanted to explore the cave, so I booked the tour. Luckily, it turned out we were almost the last tourists. They said the law might change next year, making tours difficult, so I thought I booked at a nice time 👍. Yuri, our guide, was very kind and explained everything well in English. Thank you for your hard work! It was a very fulfilling and fun experience. It was an unforgettable memory for my child as well. Thank you!

I originally thought the bad weather and heavy rain in the morning might lead to a cancellation, but our responsible instructor, Fu-chan, told us the tour would proceed as planned. Miraculously, the clouds started to clear up after we set off. Even though she's a woman, she was incredibly dedicated and strong, able to pull our entire group up. It was truly impressive! The cave entrance was very small, and the scenery inside was amazing. It was a truly novel experience.

I highly recommend the Pumpkin Cave adventure for anyone visiting Miyakojima! We were assigned Coach SOMA, who communicated in English and enthusiastically helped us take photos and introduced us to the sights along the way. The Pumpkin Cave itself was very cool and definitely worth it! On the way back, we even encountered a shark 🦈! We were so lucky!
