Miyako Island :Exploring the jungle under the stars and at night

I had really high expectations for the Starlight Tour, and it exceeded them! The pickup and drop-off service was convenient because I didn't have to drive on dark roads. 😁 I thought we wouldn't see any coconut crabs, but Guide TEN meticulously searched deep into the forest and found two for us. Guide TEN was humorous and explained everything so well that everyone in our group said they'd want him for all their activities, from snorkeling to jungle tours, if we ever came back! 🤭 This kind of tour really depends on the guide, so I hope others get to meet Guide TEN too. 😀

Even tho it was rainy day, we could find lots of animals like Coconut crab, toad, hermit crab etc thanks to our guide TEN. He wandered all places to find Coconut crabs for us. 🥹🥹 He explained everything twice for Japaneses and foreigner groups. We really satisfied with the experience we had and want to visit again when it s not cloudy so we can see the starry night

Experience: An excellent tour! Throughout the activity, our guide, Teacher TEN, led us to discover creatures we wouldn't normally see, such as coconut crabs, hermit crabs, spiders, and even a cicada under a gazebo chair that had just shed its skin. It was truly fascinating! If I get the chance to visit Miyakojima again, I will definitely bring my friends and family to join this tour. Guide: Teacher TEN was very dedicated and constantly tried his best to help us spot more creatures. Location: Seaside Ecological Park. Equipment: Headlamps and thoughtful mosquito repellent were provided. Safety: Even with a light rain today, Teacher TEN continuously monitored the group's safety, concerned about slippery paths.

I usually enjoy observing nature, so I went and had a great time. It was fun to discover creatures by the light of a lantern, and walking the dark mountain path with everyone felt like an adventure. The path was well-maintained, so it wasn't dangerous. We were told we might not see coconut crabs due to the bad weather, but we saw three of them in various sizes! Our guide, TEN, enthusiastically ventured into the jungle, finding and explaining various things, so there was never a dull moment. Good job! TEN, you're still using "It's slippery. Be careful," right?? LOL. Although we couldn't see the stars due to the rainy and cloudy weather, it seemed like a place where the stars would be fantastic on a clear night. I'd love to go again on a nice day. It's well worth investing a short amount of time in the jungle night tour during the evening. I highly recommend it!

A special mention must go to our guide, Ten, whose professionalism and warmth elevated the entire tour. He was quite friendly and attentive, ensuring that everyone felt safe and comfortable throughout the journey. His ability to explain everything clearly in both Japanese and English made the experience accessible and engaging for all participants. What made this tour stand out was not only the opportunity to explore the jungle and encounter fascinating wildlife but also the depth of knowledge Ten shared. He provided insightful explanations about the animals and their habitats, along with practical survival tips that added an extra layer of intrigue and authenticity. Overall, this tour was both enriching and thoroughly enjoyable. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a unique and memorable adventure.

Experience: We decided to explore at night on a whim after arriving in Miyako, so our evening wouldn't be boring. It turned out to be an incredibly amazing experience! We stumbled upon a gathering of coconut crabs on the island and encountered these rare creatures on rocks, in trees, and even on the sidewalks! There were also many other fascinating and wild small animals, cute frogs, hermit crabs, stick insects, and butterflies sleeping at night! The kids had an absolute blast! Location: This is the most crucial part, as it’s difficult to get a taxi at night. This company provides hotel pick-up and drop-off services! This saves a lot of time and energy! Instructor: We had TAKU, who provided patient and detailed explanations in English throughout the tour. His English wasn't too difficult to understand, so feel free to give it a try! He was super patient with the kids! So much so that when I wanted to book a snorkeling trip the next day and found out TAKU was also a guide for that, I immediately booked it! An excellent guide makes the trip easy and enjoyable! TAKU is very conscientious and responsible, and he has a WeChat contact that you can use to reach him and he'll also send you travel photos. After booking, specify in the email that you need to contact them via WeChat. They will contact you later, so don't worry. (Since I booked on the same day, I couldn't log in to WhatsApp, and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to reach them, but Klook's customer service helped me follow up, and they quickly contacted me via WeChat.) Equipment: For the night tour, they provide mosquito repellent and headlamps. You don't need to bring anything except a bottle of water, as you might get thirsty while walking. Shorts and a T-shirt are also fine; there's no danger.

A unique experience with Mashi! He patiently answered our questions and ensured we were all safe. We managed to see the stars, find a frog, hermit crab and coconut crab!

We really had a good time on our tour with Ten. Since we love all wildlife, including bugs, we had a lot to see and get excited about. Huge orb weavers, big stick bugs, we even found a cockroach nest inside a tree hollow. Ten found some really big hermit crabs, and he went off-trail to hunt down some coconut crabs. They were so cool to see up close. He's full of info about the critters and the island, super nice guy.

The jungle tour allowed me to finally see the coconut crabs I'd been wanting to. Things I might have otherwise overlooked became new and exciting as I searched for them and observed them with Ten, our guide, explaining everything. It even brought back childhood memories. There was more uphill and downhill walking than I expected, so I got quite a workout, but exploring a lightless area with only a flashlight was an experience I couldn't have had in Korea. It was a bit disappointing that the weather was cloudy, preventing me from taking photos with countless stars, but our guide worked so hard to find and explain the flora and fauna that it was still wonderful. On the way home, as the clouds moved, we were even able to see some stars, which was great! I'd love to go back again sometime when the weather is clear to see the stars.
