4-Day Tour of Shangri-La, Yunnan's Secret Realm

I think I was extremely fortunate to join this tour. If you want to experience the wonders of northern Yunnan, including trekking along Hutiaoxia (tiger leaping gorge), marvelous Shangrila temples, golden dawn of Meili mountain, this is the must-go trip. I have travelled Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Luoyang, Dongbei region, Xiamen and Quanzhou, even Xinjiang, this was the best trip so far in China. I am also very grateful to the tour organizer for arranging very nice hotels with limited budget. I was able to communicate with the guide with my limited Chinese, so it is better to make sure you are accompanying with an English speaking guide or tour participants ahead of time. My friend and I had this roadtrip in the 4th week of November 2025. It was one of the most amazing roadtrips I ever had. We don't even speak Chinese, but brother Cola made it smooth even with the translator app. He is attentive and also good at taking photos. We visited all the places mentioned in the Klook itinerary and also stopped at some viewing platforms along the way. Even play with the snow while taking a break from driving. As for meals, all lunches and dinners were at our own expense, while breakfasts were in the hotel restaurant, a tea/coffee in HalfWay cafe was included. Since it's the 2 of us, brother Cola picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel instead of a random location. The itinerary planner person will let us know the weather, temperature and destination the night before. They will also adjust the plan depending on the situation. However, the executioner is brother Cola, and he will make sure the experience is top-notch. We also love his car! Highly recommended!

This trip to Shangri-La was planned in early July, to help my child relax before the start of the new school term and prepare for the academic challenges ahead. The itinerary was very well-organized and comprehensive, covering all of Shangri-La's famous attractions in just four days. A special shout-out to Mr. Ba Ge, our driver from Yunnan Youxiake, whose driving skills were exceptionally steady. He was also very enthusiastic and showed us the unique scenery of Yunnan. On the second day, my child felt unwell due to altitude sickness. Mr. Ba Ge not only provided us with a portable oxygen tank, but also went the extra mile by driving an additional 50 kilometers round trip to take us to the hotel so we could settle in, allowing my child to rest and recover in an oxygenated room. After we arrived home safely, Mr. Ba Ge even sent a message to check on my child's condition. These heartwarming acts of kindness were truly touching. We are extremely satisfied with the entire trip, especially with Mr. Ba Ge from Youxiake. A big thumbs up to him, and wishing him all the best!

This trip to Yunnan was absolutely perfect! Everything went so smoothly, and each day was filled with surprises and joy, completely exceeding my expectations. I have to give a special shout-out to our guide, Mr. Dong! He was fantastic, not only incredibly knowledgeable about the local customs and culture, with vivid and detailed explanations, but also very attentive to our needs. The itinerary was well-paced, with no feeling of being rushed at all. Plus, Mr. Dong was so warm and friendly, treating us like friends, and kept us laughing the whole way, adding so much warmth to the trip. The luckiest moment was definitely seeing the "Golden Sunlight on the Snow Mountain" at Meili Snow Mountain! When the golden sunlight hit the snow-capped peaks, the entire mountain range seemed to be coated in gold, a truly unforgettable and breathtaking sight. This trip was made especially perfect thanks to Mr. Dong's professional guidance and this ultimate beautiful scenery. Highly recommended!

I was traveling solo in Yunnan and this tour was such a great way to see Shangri-La! I was so lucky that I had such kind and helpful people in my group because I was the only foreigner and didn’t speak much Chinese. Driver He is very professional and accommodating and made me feel very safe even when driving through some of the more precarious roads. All the hotels are excellent. I really loved the hike on Day 1 - the sights are unforgettable and the hotpot was one of the most delicious I’ve ever had, even though I don’t eat meat and could only enjoy the vegetables. Even though it’s rainy season in July, we were lucky to have good weather 3 days out of 4 and were able to take amazing landscape photos, especially all the mountains on Days 3 and 4! Pudauco wasn’t my favorite stop because I saw more people than I saw animals, and wish we had actually spent time exploring Napa Lake instead. Otherwise, I’m very happy with the overall experience and I’m already recommending it to friends!

The entire trip was very comfortable! The pace was relaxed, not rushed like a boot camp-style tour. The route wasn't too mainstream, so the attractions were relatively less crowded. My favorite part was the Haba Snow Mountain hike – it was so refreshing to hike in the mountains. The guide was also fantastic, pointing out various mushrooms along the way and taking great photos. Their emotional support was on point! The driver, Xiao Yang, was also excellent: handsome, with top-notch driving skills, and he took us to delicious restaurants. He also provided detailed introductions to the sights and tips on avoiding tourist traps. The accommodations were also great, close to the attractions, and the hotels were clean. The room we stayed in at Feilai Temple had a full view of Meili Snow Mountain, which was a great bonus! Overall, the trip was very enjoyable. Although we visited Yunnan during the rainy season, we were lucky enough to see the sunset over Meili Snow Mountain and a solar halo over Napa Sea. It was a satisfying trip!

Attraction: It's so beautiful, even on a cloudy and rainy day. Six photos aren't enough to capture it all. Transportation: We were lucky to have a car for just the two of us, which was very spacious. Our driver, Mr. Shi, was excellent. Tour Guide: Kudos to Mr. Shi! He's knowledgeable, humorous, and engaging. Throughout the journey, he shared insights into local customs, historical facts, and natural science. He ensured we left with not just photos, but also a deep understanding of the region. When we encountered beautiful scenery, Mr. Shi would slow down so we could admire it. He proactively helped with our luggage, showed concern for our well-being, and reminded us of our itinerary, making us feel sincerely cared for and welcomed. Itinerary: The itinerary was well-planned and not tiring. There was a light hike included, which was especially fun. The guide led us to find mushrooms and pick wild strawberries. The scenery along the way was beautiful. Accommodation: Both the hotel and the B&B were clean and comfortable.

Five-day trip. The hotels we stayed in were very good and the itinerary was very reasonable! The driver and team leader Yang Ge was very familiar with the local area. You can ask him more questions and chat more. The scenic spots on the way to Meili are fully covered. The scenery in Yunnan is very beautiful. In Shangri-La, there is a slight altitude reaction, and the ultraviolet rays will be stronger, but you can adapt to it. Pay attention to sun protection. On the first day of this Yunnan tour, the scenery along the way was very beautiful, and the local guide also picked wild strawberries for us. It was sour and sweet, very good. The camp was at the foot of Haba Snow Mountain, and the scenery was very beautiful. In Tiger Leaping Gorge, you can feel the magnificent Jinsha River, and the Baishuitai, the remains of the immortals, is as beautiful as blue jade. I met a cute little squirrel in Pudacuo, and the Baima Snow Mountain and the alpine rhododendron left a very deep impression on me. In Meili, Mencim is holy and beautiful, the sacred mountain Kawagebo is sacred and lovely, and the Mingyong Glacier on the mountainside can see that the ice tongue has some exposed rocks, but it does not affect its beauty.

This 4D3N is mostly self guided. There will be 2 attractions spot per day so it is suitable for those who wanted to have a more relaxing trip. 李本光师傅 is very good because he will introduce some places for us during the trip, give us time to rest, bring us to local places, and many more. This tour is recommended for those who wanted to have a more relaxing trip.

A very, very happy trip! The itinerary is relatively relaxed, usually there is one attraction in the morning and one in the afternoon, and the route arrangement is also very reasonable. If there are multiple small attractions, they will be interspersed in the journey, so you won’t be tired when riding and playing! In addition, I would like to thank the driver, Master Kong Qi, for driving very steadily and not dizzy at all. He is very gentle and stable, and he also popularized a lot of local knowledge to us. (On the last day, I found another chartered car to hike in Zhonghutiao. The experience was too bad.
