Last year there was an earthquake, and I was a little worried about the tour because I don't speak Chinese and my English isn't fluent, but to sum it up, it was the best tour ever. Unfortunately, it will take some time for the gorge to be fully restored, but it was still wonderful. Thanks to Tommy guide's kind guidance and wit, I was able to finish the tour from beginning to end without any shortcomings. If I visit Taiwan again, I will definitely come to Hualien again! Thank you so much for leaving me with such a good memory~

Our guide Trix was FANTASTIC. I couldn’t believe that he has been doing this for only a few months because I thought he has been a tour guide for all his life. He was so attentive and went above and beyond. He had videos he made to show us during the drive, made a special map for us to follow at the Jiufen. spoke such good English that communication was easy. He also went above and beyond and took us around special alley way to get the best shots at the Jiufen. I highly recommend this tour and it was even more special because of the guide Trix. Libby is a fantastic guide, highly skilled, organized, and quick in managing every detail. What makes her truly special is the way she takes care of her guests with kindness and attention. She single‑handedly managed a large group while still giving support to each person individually. We sincerely wish everyone could have the chance to meet a guide like Libby! Joining this tour was also a wonderful way to see incredible places such as Yehliu, Shifen, and Jiufen, which would be difficult to reach all in one day without such great organization.

I had an incredible experience on the Alishan Day Tour booked via Klook in January 2026. The entire process was smooth from booking to the tour day. The pickup was punctual, and the tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the history and beauty of Alishan. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, especially the sunrise view from the summit — a highlight of the trip! The train ride through the lush forests and the iconic Giant Tree were unforgettable moments. The weather in January was chilly but clear, perfect for sightseeing and photography. The tour included comfortable transportation, well-organized stops, and enough free time to explore each site. Overall, it exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to experience the natural wonders of Alishan with convenience and expert guidance.

The young lady who explained everything after check-in was very clear, articulate, and fluent. After boarding, we put on our life jackets. The boat was clean and tidy, and the staff provided detailed explanations throughout the trip. They also reminded the children at the bow to be careful and reminded parents to take good care of their kids. On this trip, we saw spotted dolphins, and the explanation was very clear, interesting, and humorous. We also understood the importance of tourism and ecological environment protection. Whale World whale watching is highly recommended.

I am penning this down to write an outstanding compliment to our tour guide Mason whom not only amazing/ knowledgeable at what he does, but also who went all out to save our lives during the 2024 earthquake where Hualien was at the epicentre, 2 days ago. The day before the tour, Mason contacted us personally to arrange the pickup from our hotel and to confirm the time. When we first met on the day, he has been an amazing guide, so vibrant, humourous, lively and full of zest. He took the time an effort to remember our names personally and engage/interact with us whenever he can. Not forgetting he is also a great photographer and knows all the best spots to stand to have the best angle on all the location. Just ask him and he knows the best Love the “Taiwan Island” group photo he took for us; attached below. Mason’s exceptional expertise in Hualien and Taroko Gorge was evident in every aspect of our journey. His in-depth knowledge, attention to detail, and engaging storytelling brought the history and beauty of the region to life. We felt privileged to have such a knowledgeable guide who not only shared valuable information but also fostered a deep connection with the place. His passion for the destination was contagious, and we left the tour with a newfound appreciation for Hualien and Taroko Gorge. In fact, it’s from this trip I’ve discovered that my ancestors thousands of years ago are linked to the Amis people of Taiwan and that got me mindblown ! Something that even my family was not aware of that we have roots all the way in Taiwan. After the day tour, we went our separate ways and the very next day was the fateful day where Hualien was struck a 7.4 magnitude earthquake where we were at the epicentre. As Mason has our contact number, he personally checked on us on our wellbeing. Many of us are panic-stricken from the natural disaster. I was about to check out from my hotel when the disaster struck and was informed all roads and trains up north to Taipei has been closed or damaged from the earthquake. We were trapped in Hualien unable to leave the epicentre. There is no way out from the city to evacuate. Mason literally came to the rescue ! He used his personal car to pick us all up from the hotel and some of us stuck at Hualien Train station. The only way out from the epicenter to Taipei is to drive 7 hours convoy south towards Kaoshiung and take the HSR, which he tireless drove non-stop all the way to ensure the safe evacuation of the 7 of us. He said he felt a sense of responsibility to ensure us visitors are safely evacuated out from the disaster area and that we can safely return to Taipei and back to Singapore for our flights. Mason has been our life saver as we were literally trapped in Hualien if it wasn’t for his heroic endeavour to organise an evacuation route for us within his own resources. I am thankful and grateful for his valiant act to ensure safe passage out of Hualien and it is highly commendable ! Thank you Mason Cheng Kuo-Hsiang 鄭國祥 for rescuing us from a natural disaster ! Your heroic efforts deserves a medal !
