Fantastic 5.0
After completing the order, I realized the voucher stated that a printed copy was required for redemption. However, upon arrival, I was able to show the voucher on my phone to the ticket agent at the ticket booth. They wrote down the number from my phone, and I was able to redeem the tickets. When redeeming the tickets, you still need to wait in line with those purchasing tickets. Even though it was cherry blossom season, we entered two hours before closing, so there were noticeably fewer people, and we didn't have to wait. It's definitely worth going up to see during cherry blossom season; it's absolutely beautiful.

The Tour was at a comfortable pace. Our tour guide, Leo, shared about the interesting facts and history of each places, tips to take night scenery shot without crowd and even provide water due to long bus ride. Overall, it was a great itinerary to see the highlights of Hakodate and south western part of Hokkaido.

Fantastic 5.0
I'm satisfied with the service, but one minor disappointment is that purchasing tickets on-site is much cheaper. Usually, there's an assumption that advance booking is more affordable, so the significant price difference is a bit of a letdown—it's about 1.5 times more expensive.

Baee San was very patient in teaching me how to ride. This was my first time participating in a Segway tour, and I was initially worried I wouldn't be able to ride, but after the lesson, I easily mastered the skills. I felt very safe throughout the entire experience and could freely enjoy zipping through the jungle, which was fantastic! Baee San also showed me a natural hot spring, explained facts about plants and animals, and I even saw a super large bird. There was also afternoon tea during the ride, and Baee San was very happy to share stories, making it a relaxing and enjoyable tour. Onuma Park is beautiful, the air is fresh, and every moment was a delight. Thanks to Baee San and Ito San for their hospitality; it's suitable even for solo travelers! I was even upgraded to a private tour 😁 I'm so satisfied, I highly recommend it.

What to know before visiting Hakodate

Top experiences at a glance for the year

Hakodate’s most-booked activities are its Observation decks, followed by a wide range of Tours; Cultural experiences register too but far less often. Demand peaks in 4月, with a big surge then, and falls to its lowest in 2月, so the rhythm of the year swings between quiet winter months and a busy spring window.

Which activities suit different travellers

Families and groups will find Observation decks an easy win: low-cost, high-appeal spots that suit all ages and are simple to include in a day’s plan. Couples often pick the Tours category for variety and memorable shared experiences, from guided walks to specialty outings. Solo travellers and small groups who like flexibility will also appreciate Tours because that category offers the widest spread of options and price points.

What travellers from Malaysia should book ahead

With a typical booking lead time of around five days, most things in Hakodate can be picked up a day or two before you go, but the earliest planners still tend to lock in plans around three weeks ahead. Booking ahead becomes especially important in 4月, the peak month, when demand rises sharply and popular slots fill fastest.

How the categories compare on price and appeal

Observation decks are the easiest and most budget-friendly way into Hakodate’s sights, with entry-level prices well below the others. Tours sit at the premium end on average and show the widest range of choices—from modest to high-end—so they suit travellers seeking either simple guided options or more costly, specialised outings. Cultural experiences are fewer and sit mid-range in positioning here; they’re best for travellers specifically after an interpretive, local-focused activity.
