Things to do in Chitose

This was such a great trip. We really enjoyed it, the itinerary was well-planned, and we had enough time to explore each place. Andy, our tour guide, was really helpful and even gave recommendations that we followed and loved. Because of that, everyone on the tour was cooperative and no one acted out, since we never felt rushed for time.

We had a wonderful time guided by Alex, who is very fluent in English. He seems to have visited Noboribetsu many times, as the knowledge he shared during the trip helped us greatly and allowed us to save a lot of time when visiting each place on the itinerary. From the recommended foods to the popular local products, to shopping guides at Mitsui Outlet ,we were very happy with everything. The trip is truly worth trying, and we would highly recommend it to everyone.

This aquarium is well worth a visit, offering a great opportunity to learn more about the life cycle of salmon. The most impressive part is being able to directly observe the salmon migrating upstream in the Chitose River! Purchasing tickets through Klook allows for instant use (¥600) and is cheaper than buying them on-site (¥800). I recommend purchasing through Klook. The adjacent parking lot is large, and you can also see planes landing at New Chitose Airport, which is a nice bonus.

Visiting the Hill of the Buddha was a peaceful winter moment — snow-covered paths, serene giant Buddha, and breathtaking scenery. A truly beautiful and calming experience.

We arrived at 1:30 PM after having lunch at the New Chitose Airport domestic terminal since our arrival was at 12 PM. I thought it would be a group tour, but since it was off-season, only 2 people from our team had applied. Usually, they could cancel it if a team isn't formed, but they fulfilled their responsibility and responded very kindly. Especially, two staff members saw us off for just the two of us, and the driver was so kind. He even gave us an umbrella because it might rain when we arrived, haha. The schedule was a reasonable amount of time to see Otaru, and they got us to Sapporo on time. I think booking a tour from the airport was a great idea rather than making plans again in Sapporo. I highly recommend it. Thank you.

This was a great experience. The time for the entire trip was arranged just right, allowing us to fully appreciate the local scenery. The explanations of the tour guide ,Helen, were interesting and wonderful, and the driver was also very professional.

Although we have multilingual headsets which provide us with narration and description of attractions coming up, when there's no narration and the lady guide will start to say some things about whatever she's relating to, it's only in Japanese, so there are occasions that we have no idea what every Japanese tourist is laughing or clapping about. I feel like I could have done this through a VR headset at home instead. Nothing relatable and personal about the tour.
