The new year is finally here, and we’re ready to kick it off with some good vibes by planning for your good times. The start of the year is when most of us love to jot down all the things we want to do, so let’s take it a step further to make sure that our plans and resolutions do come true! You might already have some awesome places in mind, but the crucial step is having an actual plan to get you to commit to achieving your travel goals. As your travel buddy, we’ve rounded up 10 new year’s resolutions to help kickstart your travel plans, so you can look forward to your most adventurous year yet!

    Start small 💡

The first step is always the hardest, so let’s make it easier by taking baby steps! Start out short and sweet like a simple day trip, it could be a road trip to the beach or even a quick hike — all you really need is a destination without having to think of packing for overnight.
Once you gain confidence and momentum, you can start checking out tours that you could easily book! There are a bunch of tour packages that already include meals and even accommodations, so that’s easily a handful of steps out of the way.

    1. Hop aboard a fun-filled cruise ship in the Far East

Hit multiple birds with one stone as you explore Singapore and Malaysia on board the Spectrum of the Seas Cruise. You get full access to a whole range of exciting activities, drool-worthy restaurants, and even live shows during your 3-day, 4-nights trip!

    2. Indulge in good food, great drinks, and Seoul’s cityscapes via the Han River

Cruises on Han River at night
Cruise through South Korea’s famous Han River while enjoying a live band, drinks, and the mesmerizing architecture of Seoul! You’ll get to spot landmarks like N Seoul Tower, Yanghwa Bridge, and Jamsil Olympic Stadium, to name a few. The Eland Han River Cruise also includes a buffet lunch or dinner by the dock at Ashley, a famous South Korean restaurant chain.

    3. See majestic Mt. Fuji up-close and experience the beauty of Hakone

Cable cars with Mount Fuji as the backdrop
If you’re in Japan, do consider venturing out for a day trip to Mt. Fuji and Hakone! There are day tours that give you a lunch option, so you can fully enjoy yourself without having to worry about where to eat. Witness the beauty of Mt. Fuji up-close and get a chance to reach its highest point to see the best views of Hakone.

    4. Pamper yourself with high tea and hot springs

Rest your sore muscles in the elegant hot springs of one of Taipei’s top-ranked hotels, The Gaia Hotel. What’s great about their hot spring packages is that you could choose to include lunch, dinner, or even their afternoon tea set — a known favorite!

    Be specific 🚠

Now that you have your travel list, it’s time to get into action by being more specific. This is when you set actionable steps by asking yourself what you really want to do and where exactly you want to go.
To give you a better idea, let’s say you have Taiwan on your list. Do you have any place in mind or any dish you want to try? This is where the specifics come in — like finally trying the famous oyster omelet from Lai Ji that can be found in Ningxia Night Market. Easy!

    1. Go on a food trip at Taipei’s Ningxia Night Market

    Roads and cars at night
Whether you’re a food lover or not, you have most likely heard of Taiwan’s street food — it’s world-famous levels! You have to try some of our favorite Taiwanese eats like Oyster Vermicelli (O Ah Mee Sua), Scallion Pancakes (Cong Zhua Bing), Stinky Tofu (Chou Doufu), and so much more.

    2. Experience the thrill of Running Man’s obstacle courses

    3. Witness ethereal frost-covered trees in Yamagata

    Snow-covered trees
There’s just something magical about Yamagata, especially during the winter. Here you’ll find beautifully preserved Edo structures, endless views of frost-covered trees (juhyo) during the winter, and the most magical of all —  you’ll get to see the famous Ginzan Onsen. Ginzan Onsen is known to many as the possible inspiration for the bathhouse in Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away.

    4. Bungy jump from 47m high in Sentosa

If you’re looking for an epic thrill, bungy jumping at Skypark Sentosa should definitely be on your list. If you’re a bit nervous, you could also bungy jump by twos! It’s only in Sentosa where you can find a Tandem Bungy option in Southeast Asia.

Step out of your comfort zone with a solo trip 💪🏻

One of the most challenging things about planning a trip is making sure everyone’s happy and all the schedules are in sync, so maybe it’s time to try planning a solo trip? If you haven’t yet, solo trips are exhilarating and so fulfilling, and they give you the opportunity to manage your own time — so you can go to all the places you want without the pressure from others. There are so many things you could do that your only problem would be how to fit it all into your itinerary!

    1. Experience Japan’s countryside

If you happen to have any layovers, you could drop by Changi Airport’s Plaza Premium Lounge. You can enjoy unlimited food and beverages, which include Singaporean favorites like Laksa and Chicken Rice. You’ll also have access to WiFi, workstations, shower rooms, and more.
