Shifen Old Street, located in the Pingxi area, is a charming little town built around the Shifen railway station area. Visitors come to paint their wishes on lanterns and release them in the area, though the sky lanterns were originally used as a signaling system for railroad workers.

Jiufen Old Street is famous for sharing a resemblance to the village in Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film, Spirited Away, but the town’s picturesque scenery and quaint shops are also worth a visit. Explore the small food stalls, tea houses, souvenir shops, and pottery stores as you stroll along the bustling streets.
