Fantastic experience & highly recommended! Eric and Kim were great hosts who shared with us their passion & commitment towards organic farming. Learnt about unique plants besides the amazing durian feast where we enjoyed 11 types of durian. Kim also helped to arrange an MVP to accommodate our 5 pax group. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!
The Durian Tasting & Farm Tour provided a wonderful experience, offering fascinating insights into the intricacies of durian farming. It gave a deep appreciation for the care and dedication that goes into cultivating these unique tropical fruits. Being able to taste a variety of different durian cultivars was a real treat, with flavors and textures that were truly remarkable. This educational and delightful outing is highly recommended for anyone interested in learning more about durian and savoring its delicious bounty.
Experienced what is called sustainable farming and tasted all sorts of tropical fruits, wild herbs, and spices that will tingle your taste buds. Also, learning about the relationship between durian and bats. Durian flowers bloom at night, and bats are active at night to help pollinate. Durian pollinated by bats not only has high quality, but also increases yield. The farm owners, Eric and Kim, gave us tasting of: - Spices that can make a magic drink - Rambutan - Cempedak - King of Fruits originally from Penang, starting with D1 (Ganja), D14, D15, Gold Fish, Kampung 100-year-old trees, Bao, Green Skin ( 青皮)and Red Prawn
Thanks to the farm owners Eric and Kim for bringing us a fresh and unforgettable experience! Eric not only explained a lot of little knowledge about durian, but also let us pick durians in the farm ourselves, taught us how to distinguish the quality of the durians we picked, and opened the good durians on the spot for us to taste. During the tasting session, Kim introduced 8 types of durian to us, and asked the group members to guess the origin of the name of each durian, and then let us taste them one by one and choose our favorite durian flavor. The whole experience was relaxing and interesting, and being able to taste 8 types of durian in one go was really satisfying!
Excellent! You shouldn't miss it! Excellent! I sincerely recommend participating in this event! The owner of the farmer is well-prepared and very nice! The owner of the farmer is well-prepared and very nice!
I wasn't sure what to expect, but i was really blown away by the experience. We were treated not only to a "tree to table" durian spread, but we also learnt a lot about the importance of nurturing the land, and hearing from Eric how they work with nature, keeping circularity in mind to ensure that their durians are like none other. In terms of transportation, do note that you would need to arrange for your own transfer there and back, but just drop Kim a text and she will link you up with a driver who will get the group there are back safely. Overall a really positive experience, especially seeig how Eric and Kim are both so passionate about what they do. Truly inspirational!
Honestly, if you consider yourself a durian fanatic, this tour is absolutely the most worthwhile and astonishing experience in all of Penang! I already felt incredibly happy eating durian in George Town a few days ago, but I truly never imagined that taking an hour-long drive into the mountains to this purely organic orchard in Balik Pulau (the owner, Eric, mentioned they've maintained a chemical pesticide-free approach for over 80 years) would offer such a fresh and impactful experience, eating durians right after they fall. It's on a completely different level from what I usually eat in Hong Kong! Today truly set a new personal record for me; I devoured 8 varieties in one go: Green Skin, Hor Lor, Kun Poh, Kim Poh, Xiao Hong, Jin Yu, D15, and the legendary 600! Because all of them were naturally ripened and eaten within 2 to 6 hours of falling, the flesh was incredibly creamy, with absolutely no watery texture. The most amazing thing is that today I actually tasted popcorn 🍿, pure natural coconut 🥥, and intensely rich black coffee ☕ flavors in the durian! I seriously wondered if I had gone to a high-end dessert buffet instead of a durian orchard. At the orchard, I also got to experience picking and eating the juiciest rambutans and mangosteens right off the trees. Eating mangosteen after durian to cool down was simply superb. Although it's an hour's drive from the city into the mountains, this perfect taste is absolutely worth the price. A friendly reminder that to protect the ecosystem, the orchard requires advance booking through Klook; walk-ins are not allowed! I will definitely sign up again next time I visit Penang!
Great experience learning about the organic durians and other fruits on the farm. Hosts were very welcoming to our family and we were able to try 8+ variaties of durian that just freshly fell on the day of our visit in mid July
After registration, the owner Kim will introduce a taxi driver to pick you up via WhatsApp. You can talk to the taxi driver about the price. I departed from Citadines Connect Georgetown on 21/06/2025 and paid RM160. After arriving, there were more than a dozen people. I met two Hong Kong ladies who came three times a year. Wow, my confidence increased. They were waiting for my black thorn🤭 (the farmer's wife said black thorn would cost more than 600 yuan, so I didn't try it). This is organic. In addition to the delicious durian, the owner was very enthusiastic about explaining the benefits of organic farming to people. The owner, his wife and son were warm and welcoming, and they were full of smiles, so it was a conscientious product. If I participate in the durian tasting again, I will stay in the durian tree house and feel the durian falling at 4 o'clock. I will also tell Kim in advance that I want to try "black thorn".
We were deeply touched by Eric & Kim's passion for running their durian farm! That day, we sampled nearly 10 varieties of durian, many of which I had never tasted before, which was a delight! The drive from Georgetown to the farm took an hour and involved navigating winding mountain roads. My husband and I initially wondered if it was worth the hour-long journey to the mountains when we could find affordable durians everywhere in Georgetown. However, after the experience, we both agreed it was absolutely worth it. My husband, who isn't a durian enthusiast and usually goes to great lengths to avoid them, even said he'd like to come back and bring his mother. There was also a group of friends from Singapore there, who had visited several times before and told me I'd definitely return, which I completely agree with. Additionally, there was a group of Vietnamese friends from Australia, and everyone had a great time.
