Our tour guide, Xiaolu, was probably the best guide I've ever had! She possessed extensive knowledge and a deep understanding of the Forbidden City's layout and its many stories. As we walked, numerous visitors were drawn in by her explanations, and before they knew it, they were following our group. After touring the Forbidden City with her, I felt like I had taken a comprehensive history lesson. Her explanations were so vivid that I could visualize the scenes in my mind as I listened, imagining the lives of the emperors and concubines who lived in the Forbidden City over several centuries. I remembered that 24 emperors lived in the Forbidden City, the purpose of each area, and the unique aspects of Yanxi Palace. Thank you, Xiaolu, for making this trip so enriching! It's absolutely perfect for bringing children; they will definitely learn a lot!

As the morning light gently spilled over the eaves of the Meridian Gate's corner towers, I was already standing outside the Forbidden City's Wu Gate. The red walls glowed with a soft luster in the morning mist, like cinnabar softened by the years. Last night's raindrops still clung to the glazed tiles, shattering into a crisp chime with each gust of wind. Crossing the Golden Stream Bridge, the stone slabs felt damp and reflected the pale blue of the sky. The bronze cranes in front of the Hall of Supreme Harmony remained shrouded in shadow, the lines of their beaks gradually illuminated by the morning light. Those delicate marks chiseled by craftsmen centuries ago now held tiny pools of dew. Without the clamor of crowds, only the sweeping sound of the cleaning monk's bamboo broom could be heard, as if the faint footsteps of palace servants from six hundred years ago echoed in the rustling. Walking along the corridors of the Eastern Six Palaces, the mottled paint on the vermilion pillars stood out in the morning light. Behind a half-open window lattice, the shadow of an old pagoda tree stretched diagonally across the green bricks, like an ink wash painting blurred by time. I suddenly recalled historical records stating that the window paper here was once soaked in tung oil, providing both light and wind protection. Now, gazing at the fragmented golden sunlight filtering through the window panes, it seemed as if I were seeing the silk fabrics that palace servants had once laid out to dry centuries ago. Reaching the Imperial Garden, morning dew still clung to the leaves of the "trees of conjugal love." The intertwined branches of those cypress trees, said to have been planted during the Wanli era, cast dappled patterns of light across the ground. Ripples stirred in the dew on the stone table, and in a fleeting moment, I seemed to hear the laughter of palace women playing chess, dissolving into the air with the mist. Most unforgettable was arriving at the corner tower as the rising sun leaped over the moat's waters. The entire corner tower, with its nine beams and eighteen pillars, stretched out in the golden light. The auspicious beasts on the flying eaves suddenly seemed to come alive, as if they were about to soar into the morning light. The moat's surface reflected the corner tower's image, shattering it into countless shimmering gold flakes, making it difficult to discern whether the tower was in the water or the water was within the tower. As I left, the tourists' noise gradually began to fill the Meridian Gate. Looking back at the red walls and yellow tiles, the Forbidden City in the morning light resembled an old man just waking up, with untold stories hidden in the wrinkles around his eyes. Those stone steps smoothed by the years and the dew-dampened window lattices quietly whispered: History is never just cold words, but a trembling leaf in the morning light, a drop of undried dew, a sigh carried away by the wind.

This time, we booked the 2025.07.06 Beijing Forbidden City tour through Klook. It became more enriched and memorable because of the guidance of tour guide Zhao Yongli, which is definitely worthy of five-star praise! Tour guide Zhao has an amazing in-depth understanding of the history and culture of the Forbidden City. Unlike ordinary tour guides who just read from the script, she can tell the stories behind every palace and every cultural relic in the Forbidden City in an attractive and visual way, making us feel as if we have traveled through time and space and experienced the magnificence and splendor of the Forbidden City in person. Tour guide Zhao not only imparts knowledge, but also guides us to think about the significance of history, making the whole visit process full of inspiration. Although the weather in Beijing in July is hot, Tour guide Zhao's attentiveness and thoughtfulness make us feel warm. He constantly reminds everyone to replenish water and cares about the condition of each member of the group to ensure that everyone can complete the trip comfortably. These considerate actions all show rich experience in leading groups and care for the members. Tour guide Zhao can grasp the rhythm when explaining, so that the whole visit process is smooth and not rushed, and you can easily visit even in the vast Forbidden City. Sincerely thank Director Zhao for bringing us this wonderful Forbidden City cultural tour! Director Zhao is not only a tour guide, but also a knowledgeable friend who leads us to have a deeper understanding of this world-class cultural treasure. I strongly recommend Zhao Yongli (Director Zhao) to all friends who want to have a deep experience of the Forbidden City in Beijing!

The Forbidden City is a must-do itinerary for this first visit to Beijing. Because I was taking part in the morning itinerary, Guide Lu told me in KLOOK yesterday that I had to queue up to enter before 8:15 and that I had to go through security check after entering. I also met Guide Lu at the designated gathering place around 8:40. During the entire trip, Guide Lu explained the historical allusions and the history of the objects in the palace in great detail to the participants, which was very beneficial to listen to, and at the same time, I gained a lot of knowledge about the official history of the Forbidden City and the legends passed down by the people. Guide Lu is very professional. Every time we arrived at a new location, Guide Lu would stop to explain. I am very fortunate to have Guide Lu's leadership this time, which made this trip to the Forbidden City enjoyable. Thank you, Guide Lu.

(1) The tour guide for this trip is Zhao Yongli from Letu Travel. You will be notified by email one day before the trip, telling you the meeting time, location, and precautions. (2) The meeting point is inside the museum, and your tour guide will be waiting for you inside. (3) On the day of entry, you must go through security check first. The document you entered when you purchased the itinerary will be your pass (for example, I entered my Taiwan Compatriot Certificate, and then showed it to the museum for entry). You do not need to get an additional ticket. (4) There is no parking available around the Forbidden City. If you want to arrive at the meeting point on time, it is recommended that you walk + go through security + queue at least 30 minutes in advance. (5) Because the tour guide will be wearing a new type of bee headset for the entire tour, and the group members have to wear headset receivers, a deposit of ¥50 will be collected from each person (either WeChat payment or cash is acceptable). It will be returned to you after the tour, so don't worry. I just think it should be stated on the purchase page to avoid any disputes. (6) Throughout the whole process, tour guide Zhao explained the tour very seriously. Half of our group were from Hong Kong, including two elderly people in their 70s who had difficulty understanding Mandarin. The tour guide also slowed down his speech and was very polite. He also knew a lot of the stories behind the attractions. At least my 70-year-old mother felt that the expense was worth it. And if the elderly are satisfied, they won’t complain during the whole trip~😌

On June 25, we took a guided tour of the Forbidden City in Beijing. The tour guide Xiaolu carefully reminded us the day before about the walking route to avoid the crowds on the day of the visit, which saved us a lot of time. The humorous and detailed explanation on the day of the visit made both adults and children immersed in the historical stories of the culture and antiquities of the Forbidden City. The tour guide Xiaolu brought a wealth of supplementary information and photos to make up for some of the appearances and stories of the renovated corners that we could not see. In hot weather, the tour guide also carefully took us to the shade at the right time so that we could appreciate every part of the Forbidden City. We gained a lot from the whole guided tour, and both adults and children were satisfied and happy.

To truly understand the purpose and history of each palace, you need to follow a guided tour through the Forbidden City from beginning to end. The Palace Museum is truly immense, and having someone explain things is essential to clearly grasp the historical background of each courtyard you visit. From the grand halls where court was held to the courtyards of the imperial concubines in the rear palace, and the absolutely beautiful imperial gardens, the emperors and empresses of old certainly lived a life of luxury! 🌟

Yesterday, I took a three-hour guided tour of the Forbidden City. Our guide, Mr. Lu, was excellent and very willing to help take photos. He provided a very detailed explanation and made an effort to find shaded spots for us during the tour. If other tourists tried to secretly follow along and listen to our explanations, he would politely ask them to leave. Although the Forbidden City is very sunny, it's still worth visiting if you're interested in Qing Dynasty history. I've attached some photos taken by the guide and some that I took myself.

On Saturday, November 15th, the weather was great. This morning, tour guide Zhao Nan took my family to visit the Forbidden City. We are very grateful for his explanations. Not only were the adults able to immerse themselves and understand many true historical stories, but most importantly, he made it so that the seven-year-old child in our group, who had no prior knowledge of palaces or ancient times, was able to listen to the tour with great interest and not feel bored at all for three hours. Thank you, tour guide Zhao Nan, for giving us a wonderful morning.
