Fantastic 5.0
Very big hotel. The onsen is awesome. My son loves the swimming pool area. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast and dinner were very good. Location is great, walkable to convenience stores, souvenir shops and other sightseeing spots. They are sharing carpark with Jigokudani Observation Deck, hence you can check in first to get the parking ticket before going to the Jigokudani.

The location is great, next to the bus stop, very close to the hot spring street, and you can walk to the spring park and Noboribetsu Hell Valley. The public bath in the hotel is pretty good, and the outdoor bathing area is more comfortable. Many things for dinner looked good, but they tasted pretty average. The hot food was cold. I liked the freshly fried fish tempura the most. Transportation convenience:

Fantastic 5.0
We have stayed at a number of high end ryokans all over Japan and Takinoya is one of our favorites. Though we prefer older, more traditional looking ryokans, Takinoya has done a wonderful job of looking both classic and modern. Our room was a large suite with a bedroom and a separate tatami room for our son, a living room and a separate dining room where dinner and breakfast were served. We definitely prefer ryokans with in-room meal service. It seems from the room descriptions, about 70% of the rooms don’t have in-room meals. The meals were some of the best we have ever had at a ryokan. The chef has a superb palate. The onsens were fantastic and not crowded. Most of the time any of us were there, we were alone. Also, having an in-room onsen was a treat. Service was very good, but there was a sense at meal time that the staff had too much to do and was a little overwhelmed. Overall a fantastic experience and we would love to return. We would give Takinoya our highest reco

The accommodation is located in a shopping area with convenient transportation and parking. There's a cafe downstairs with delicious pastries. It's great value for the price.

Great 4.0
The hotel is conveniently located near Hell Valley and a small town. The hotel staff are friendly and can communicate in English, far exceeding the English proficiency of hotel staff in larger cities like Sapporo. The hotel's onsen provides body soap, shampoo, conditioner, toner, and lotion, which is a thoughtful touch. The hotel itself is quite old and could use some renovation.

Fantastic 5.0
This day trip is quite fulfilling, allowing you to easily explore Noboribetsu and Lake Toya without driving. Our guide, Ms. Onodera, was friendly and funny, providing thorough introductions to the history of each attraction, as well as Hokkaido's unique food, entertainment, and recommendations. The meeting point was clear, the weather was great, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of time at each stop to take pictures. Lunch was a simple meal purchased at a convenience store, which we enjoyed while sitting by Lake Toya and taking in the scenery. At Cape Earth, the clear weather allowed us to see Hakodate in the distance, giving us the feeling that the Earth is round. If you didn't purchase a bear park ticket in advance, you can buy one from the guide upon arrival or take a walk around Showa Shinzan outside the park. Along the mountain roads, we were pleasantly surprised to occasionally see wild deer by the roadside. At the Lake Toya observation deck's gift shop, you can buy yogurt drinks, balloon pudding, birch sap, and lavender-related products. You can also purchase medicinal horse oil at the bear park. I think this tour offers excellent value for the money.
